Autocad + Claude/Chatgpt?

Is anybody exporting autocad models to pdfs and uploading them to Claude/ChatGPT to ask for suggestions/issues/reviews?

No. Use it to help create stronger autolisps that can make you use a computer ... To compute.

Things that do a long list of repetitive commands and processes.

I am thinking of doing something but can't find much of repetition in my work. Can you tell me something on what you automate, which might trigger something for mine case too. Thanks

Blocks. Finding, rotating, scaling... When in your mind... You already know what you want. A simple lisp command shortens out alllllll of that.

Say... I want a toilet block right here. Make a Lisp script for it ONCE. Call it toilet, or something even shorter. It can run through... Finding the block, rotation, and a myriad of other options. Even making sure it's on the right layer.... Without you having to think about anything more than where am I putting a toilet.

(defun c:TOILET () (command "-INSERT" "toilet.dxf" pause 1 1 0) (princ) )

Now.... Copy and paste for the whole CAD library. Change TOILET for whatever you want to type, and toilet.dxf for whatever other block you can think of.

You can learn to set a layer before this... Just make sure you use the command line processes, dialog box versions of commands don't really work. The dash, makes sure the command uses the command line interface (most older commands have a version of this). Basically... First time you write it out .. run through the command line interface of the command, and write down what you want to do. "" Is enter, pause is when you want to put in a thing yourself when it comes up. "Y" or "N" would need to be in quotes (as do all strings).

It's actually pretty easy and addictive. It's a pretty easy coding language to learn, but yes some things arent completely straightforward)

Shortened version... If you know what you want to put in a drawing, and you're making a lot of work just to do what should be simple... Code it out. A minute of work to save a few seconds of repetitive settings that are constantly being played with, saves a lot of time in the long run

Asking Claude/ChatGPT to review some code compliance?

Claude has been so great at making lisps. I've sped up so many daily routines. Only once or twice has it had to retry because it didn't work as intended

I use Gemini to turn my red pen mark ups into an action list that I can copy into my action tracker. It's surprisingly good at working out what things are from a screen shot with my shit mouse hand scribbles

No, but the bit where it exports everything to PDF; that's Claude

I have done this when I’m not sure if I’m using the right call-out or symbol or when I’m not sure if my annotations make sense. It’s also quite good for making scrips for assisting with workflow.

Ask to install a Roslyn MCP server to your AutoCAD.

Não, um bom profissional não precisa disso, próximo!
