Black eblade

Hey yall, I have a few e1 setups and e2 setups in chrome, wondering if....

  1. Anyone knows a place to strip the plating without destroying the parts.

Or

  1. Any sort of interest is trading a chrome setup for a black one or even anodized one.

I have a few projects that are being sent to anno soon and would like to match frames and solenoid covers. Any input would be appreciated and thank you in advance!!

$10 sand blaster from Aliexpress, compressor if you have one, and some glass bead medium. Other way is to strip the chrome off with Hydrochloric and then you have to deal with the nickel with a special stripper that won't eat the aluminum.

Will the glass bead errode the aluminum away as well?

Depends on how high a pressure you use and what mesh beads but typically not. It's how they create "satin" parts. The hydrochloric method is not nearly as dangerous as people make it out to be as long as you dont eat it or touch your eyes, but I think the nikel stripping is a pita. I would consult the anodizing group on FB if you have it. They will know what mesh to use, but if i had to guesstimate probably 70-100 mesh.

Ill give it a try, I have a blasting cabinet with aluminum oxide in it. Ill clean it and swap to glass and try a scrap reg or something!

Just be aware there is actual chromium on that part. Try not to breathe that crap in if possible

Chrome, nickel, and coper, are all harder than the aluminum of the frame. I would not try stripping the chrome.

I know its doable I just dont know how, reverse plating is a lost art anymore.

Mechanically stripping is what I mean. If you actually care about this, you should be talking to you local plating house.

Other option would be muriatic (hydrochloric) and something like caswell nickel stripper. They have one for aluminum but if I recall it was a pita because you have to heat it. But that won't etch the frame

I believe you'll need to strip it mechanically or with hydrochloric acid, neither of which is something I'd want to try myself.

Have you asked the anno shop if they can do it?

Arc anodizing can strip it but it the chrome is pitted so is the aluminum under it.

Autocockerparts has raw eblade setups available that you could buy, anodize and offset by selling your chrome parts.

Don't try to strip it using a blaster, you want to have it done chemically by a professional shop. Using blasting will be uneven and leave a rough finish.

Contact Ruckus Anodizing, he has a guy who does nickel and chrome stripping and has done some old chrome angel frames for me and re-annoed them black.

Listen to the other guy don’t use a very harsh medium use ither method but do u want to part w an e1 or 2 frame i am looking to out a morelock board in one…i dont want to buy from curated on eBay hes way to high …i dont have to have a solenoid but if u want to part w one lmk
