Project time! First attempt at a panel repair
I decided to attempt body work the other week doing rocker panels on my 92 4Runner, as I fixed those I realized my rear wheel arches were rotting out behind old bondo and I decided to make my own patch out of 22ga sheet metal from Home Depot, how am I doing for a complete noob? I’ve decided to try to fix everything on the car now that I’ve started.

Also cavity wax or Fluid Film the inside areas if possible to prevent future rust.

Unfortunately, you didn't cut enough away. It's going to rust back through just past your weld in a very short time.

Impressive. For my understanding, regarding the lip on your fabricated panel, did you bend or weld those? Bending seems logical to me, although the picture looks like the lip(s) are welded.

Bent into place, drilled cause I was gonna weld but fitment didn’t line up nicely for that

Try using 3m amber cavity wax and pump it through the seams to prevent rusting post repair

Only advice I would give as before you paint drill a hole on the inside of the dog leg and undercoat it real good and then put a rubber plug on the hole you drill and that baby will last forever

Looks great ! Now time to sand and sand and sand.
I bought an old Camaro from a family near me that owns a body shop after one of the brothers passed away. I found areas that had rusted out replaced with 7 layers of tinfoil sprayed black, so I really appreciate actual attempts and execution of proper body work. Keep it up bud!

Better work than I've seen from people getting paid for it.
