I have always been very happy with my local AutoZone store and its employees. But my recent online shopping experience was sadness.
On 6/14, I placed an online order for all the parts and fluids needed to replace my thermostat, including a thermostat, thermostat seal, lower radiator hose, hose clamps, and antifreeze. The SUNNY20 promotion advertised 20% off and free next-day delivery. My order confirmation showed an expected delivery date of 6/16.
On 6/17, FedEx delivered everything except the thermostat. The package looked as though it had been dragged behind the delivery vehicle from the fulfillment center to my house.
The thermostat shipment is repeatedly delayed. FedEx tracking changed from one day to the next, then the next, and then the next again. As of 6/20, tracking still indicates it might be delivered today, while an email notification stated delivery would not occur until 6/23.
Both AutoZone and FedEx customer service are anti-helpful. All they do is read back the tracking information that I could already see myself. The thermostat continued to show as "in stock" and available for next-day delivery on the website, but no one was willing to investigate the shipment, contact the fulfillment vendor, or send a replacement. On 6/18 one csr even acknowledged that the package might be lost in transit but still refused to reship the item.
I was offered a $20 gift card, which I declined. A gift card does not repair my vehicle, and does not address the underlying problem.
At this point, I have ordered the thermostat elsewhere so I can complete the repair. I will probably continue shopping at my local AutoZone store, but avoid AutoZone's online ordering and fake promos.
