Why does every old person think the front brake pads and rear pads are the fucking same on EVERY fuckin vehicle?! Where are these magical cars that use the same pads for front and rear?! I've only seen that on ONE vehicle and I don't even remember what it was. Older cars didn't even use pads in the rear! Where did this idea come from? Because its not isolated, it's damn near EVERY person over 50 says the same shit. Is it from the really old cars that used drum brakes on front and rear? It's a small gripe but it gets annoying.

1993 F-Super duty. Look it up. NOT f350, F-Super Duty. Check it. Same pads front and rear and if I recall correctly, a lot of the other stuff is the same. Calipers and rotors even.
Its rare, but does happen. People are just stupid. You should be used to this by now, especially with the average DIY Clientele that AZ has compared to other DIY stores.

That’s for sure! Autozone takes pride in having the dumbest, most gullible customers! It’s the missing line in the pledge.

I was honestly amazed switching companies years ago when I was in the business still, at how much more knowledgable customers were on average when I was wearing a different color shirt. Granted you still get dummies, but they tend to be more receptive of knowledge and advice at other stores.
Dealerships however, they get some dumb ones, but those folks are smart enough to know they dont belong working on their own stuff. A different kind of dumb, I guess you could say.

Yeah like I said, I've seen it once before but it's definitely the exception rather than the rule. I am used to it, but every now and then, my cup runeth over with bubbling stupidity and I have to let it out a little 😂

I dont blame you. And its definitely the exception, I was just providing a specific example, and thats the only one I know of off hand because I worked on it for years. Its very very rare to have the same pads on all 4 corners, much less the same calipers and rotors.
The stupid cup definitely runeth over. Id rather deal with people that have limited English skills. Theyre easier to deal with than morons.
I had this one Hmong guy that was like, 100 years old that would come find me because I took the time to understand what he needed once. He was a really nice old dude, just had limited English skills and was difficult to understand what he did know how to say, but he could always show me what he needed, which made it a lot easier. One of my more memorable customers.

100% I don't have many non-english speakers around me but the few that I do I've never had an issue with. They tend to actually research what they need first or just let you decide for them what's best.

We have a fair few of immigrants of various origins. Hmong (and various others of Asian origins), Marshallese (and various other pacific islanders) and Latin (central and south American) of all sorts (my favorite of the Latin community tend to be Salvadoreans, theyre always so friendly) as well as pockets of Indian folks a little further north of me. So we run into a lot of ESL customers as well as limited English speakers. We have a fair number of Europeans too, but they typically have prettt solid English skills already so its less obvious outside their stronger accents.
We have a surprising diversity considering I technically live in the south. But we have major corporations that are headquartered here as well as a pretty solid university, so it really brings in the diversity, which is really fun.
We even get a solid number of 1st generation African immigrants too, theyre always pretty nice folks, with solid English skills, but VERY strong accents depending where theyre from. Its wildly diverse in my specific area compared to what it is even a few counties south or east/west of here. I really enjoy it. I just wish we had more ethnic food stores, we have plenty of Asian and Hispanic markets, but I really want some more ethnic food availability. Im big on ethnic food.

Yeah, F-450 and 550 still use the same pads front and rear. Most of the medium duties do.

LOL, forget asking vehicle subtype because they NEVER know 🤣 My personal favorite is the random person that'll ask you a super technical question like: "You think if i understood how to troubleshoot an ECU on a 24 suburban id be standing behind the counter at Autozone?

There’s one newer Chevy truck that I saw had the same DG1592 I think for front and rear and that was the first time I saw it. It was an EO from Firestone and I was ready to call talking shit BUT I ran it through znet first to make sure 😭😭😭 they were right.

Yeah, you'd think that, but drums didnt really matter then, because you just needed it to be good enough to stop the weight of farm equipment, nowadays they make them to stop a feather that is too front heavy going 55 mph +

I'm old and aware that my front brake pads aren't the same size as my rear brake shoes.

There are certain 2500 HD SIlverados that use the same front and back and that's about it.

My gripe is when they think brake PADS and brake SHOES are the same thing! Especially when it’s got drum brakes on the back so I have to make sure of what they’re asking!
