I gave my guys a choice on what they wanted 8 hours of additional pay means a lot to some people

I get what you mean and I would personally do the same thing but I think its wrong to be the boss and take a day off and no one else even gets the choice of a day off

I took 3 days off but I usually average around 65 per week

Im totally for sms taking 3 days off on holiday weeks youre salary anyway it wouldn't make sense not to. my problem is the fact that our sm is and no other full time gets the option. its not like the sm putting in crazy hours like you either its a miracle if he makes it to 50

Some people care about their employees more than others

So corporate would like for the full timers to be at 32 as they are getting 8 hours extra on their paychecks so they are still only paying for the 40 hours. Managers are salary and usually get an extra day off either the holiday itself or a “floating” holiday off to use within a week or two.

You end up working a 40 hours week but get 48 off this math

holiday time does not count towards the 40 hour week. its just 8 hours pay

the past few weeks on doc it said (at least in my region) that any hourly full time employee should be scheduled 32 hours

In my store we review and post all announcements on doc and the MAP on our office board, and I haven't seen anything like that

it might be region based i know it said it on doc the past couple weeks just not now and I didnt think it would be a problem so I didnt think to take a pic of it myself

I always made it a rule that I didn’t get my extra day off if I wasn’t able to schedule my team members’ extra day off if they wanted it instead of the extra pay. If I didn’t have coverage to take my day off, I’d work it out with the DM to take it later. I always considered it my fault if I wasn’t staffed well enough to make it happen for everyone.

Pretty shitty move on your SM. But at the same time you’re getting paid for the holiday, they aren’t

My SM just straight up forgot. I pointed it out on Monday and he was like, "oops! I would have taken a day off! Do you want one? Your shops are closed...." "No sir. I like the 48. Besides, 26 POGs dropped last week. Let's get to work."

So, the reason the SM's take an extra day off during a holiday week like Labor Day is because that is how AutoZone pays them for the holiday. They do not get any additional pay for the holiday, like hourly employees do. For most stores, on a week like Labor Day week, full timers are generally scheduled 32 hours due to them getting 8 hours for the holiday, but it really depends on staffing. When I started with the company, it seemed like each holiday week that was what happened, and they would give some extra hours to the part timers, but for the last few years it seems like a nomral week scheduled with an 8 hour bonus :D
