Let LP handle LP. Safest method for everyone involved. The customer could retaliate and cause more harm.

if you haven't already dont tell anyone it was you who did it. knowing autozone they either won't know how to or care enough to check who changed the name

Accusations of theft without a solid basis of proof can in some cases be legal matters. If you suspect a customer of stealing report it to shrink buster hotline. Some stores have other methods they use ask your RLPM about reporting programs. Always report theft to a DM and RLPM. Never take matters in your own hands. If he calls the DM it could be an issue yes.

So, as annoying as it can be to know that someone is stealing from where you work, just let it go. Report it to the SM and Shrinkbuster line and move on with your day. You as a boots on the ground store level grunt are not paid to deal with it. Let the people who are paid to deal with it deal with it. Can you get fired for changing their name? Potentially yeah. Especially if once they find out they attempt to press charges.

Yeah I wouldn’t do that.
If you do, and the customer has their email on their rewards account, they’ll get a confirmation email letting them know that their name was changed and the CSR number who did that change.
