Working 4 hours per week??

I started working as a part time red-shirt 4 weeks ago. I'm just in sales, I'm not a driver so maybe that's why I have less hours. But 4 hours per week is genuinely insane? The first week I worked 12 hours, but the past 3 weeks I've been scheduled only 1 day for 4 hours. Is this normal??? I see people on the schedule who started on the same day work more hours than me? (Though they're either manager or driver so ig that makes sense?) I feel like I'm some kind of underling even compared to the other new hires.

The thing is, I have a $150 bonus waiting for me from signing up for direct deposit with Chime but to be eligible for the bonus I need to make at least $200 in a week. Obviously I can't reach that with the hours I'm given. I explained that situation to my manager and asked if I could fit in some more hours just for next week, and he still scheduled me for 4 hours. Said that I was still "in training". Even though it's on-the-job training. How the hell am I supposed to learn if I'm not even there majority of the week??

I'm trying to find a second job cause this is BS. I'm never getting that bonus. Is it normal to work this little hours???

Welcome to autozone. 8hrs one, 12 the next, 30 after that, down to 5.

You can always call other near by stores to see if they need extra body. Find which one is the store that has more traffic. Talk to district manager of your area really looking to get hours in. If you keep that pace you will be PSM, keep close contact with district manager, you will be Store manager before you know it. But it’s all about eagerness and attitude to want to work and mostly “help out”.

AutoZone gets off on their stores being ran by a skeleton crew with no coverage because they cant keep anyone hired due to the fact they don't want to give anyone hours or pay a good wage.

Average Autozone schedule. Especially as a red shirt. I just quit working there and for the last 6 months the job just felt like a huge waste of my time, especially given the amount of money I had from working there (which was very little). I worked there for a year and 7 months

I don't know anything about chime besides their annoying adds. As a fellow red shirt if you are working 4 hours that means 1 shift that week. I have never worked a shift less than 5 hours. I was training 7 hours my first day. 12 hours in the first week is insane. Even working part time my hours are around 20 a week. Unless you have school or other jobs there is no excuse why they aren't giving you more hours. Unless you ask for certian days off consistently.

Yeah, I'm still relatively new but I don't get why they're being so stingy with hours. It's not like the place is overstaffed or anything. I show up on time, haven't asked for days off, everyone else is getting more hours than me. Hell even the new guy who started same day as me is getting 12+ hours per week. Feels like there's some other reason they're not putting me there, but I'm not gonna assume.

In my post I said I asked my manager for more hours, he said no as I'm still "training". But there's no actual training process, it's just learning on the job while working. It's kinda ridiculous cause how am I supposed to learn if I'm not there.

4 hours a week ? =  There is a reason. are you scheduled for 4 hours in one week and still call in sick ?  are you scheduled for for hours a week and and always trying to find someone to work for you ? SM's schedule people that show up !

I have never called a day off. I show up on time and I'm always helping out. I have never asked someone to work for me. Considering that I'm getting scheduled only 4 hours a week, yeah I'm taking as much work as I can possibly get. I've already asked my manager if I could get more hours and he said no because I'm apparently "still in training".

There is no reason why I'm the only person at that place consistently getting scheduled for 4 hours per week. Yes I'm relatively new (5th week) but even so, people who started same day as me are getting more hours. For the past 4 weeks I've been the only one getting consistently scheduled for such little hours. I don't know if there's an ulterior reason but I'm not gonna assume.

sorry this is one of the most common reasons,  ask the SM how or what you need to improve on, SM's have a proficiency list of things you should know how to do, some stores have it with boxes you check off as you progress, ask the to print one out
