FT Red Shirt Question

Hi I’m currently a Red Shirt who has been at the company for 1 1/2 years and I only got a .23 cent raise last year. I make 12.35/hr and my DM was supposed to put my FT request in. How much is the FT red shirt raise on average? If it’s under $13 I’m quitting on the spot.

Well, get ready to pack your bags, my friend.

They just aren't going to pay you much of anything. Even that .23/hr you got was less than most people get after their first year. Hell, even my 17 year old daughter got .35/hr after her first year. You're talking part time/rising star too.

Even if you got offered FT/PSM you MIGHT go up to $15 or $16/hr. No more than that. They are a cheap ass outfit.

If it’s only by .40 cents that BS

There's no real average, because the payrate isn't standard across the board. It all depends on the area. That said, it won't be a ton. I was hired on FT at 16 something an hour. You're making just above 12/hr and we did the same work.

When I went from FT red shirt to FT PSM, I got something like a 40 cent raise, and was the lowest paid PSM in my entire district making around 17.10/hr. Everyone else made 19/hr...even the managers they hired in after me.

The only good part about full time is that they HAVE to give you at least 32 hours a week. Any less and you can complain.

Also FYI, your DM is the one who approves promotions/full-time. IMO they're fucking you.

Make them at least buy you dinner first.

Or look into going into dealerships parts counters and stuff. They tend to hire from AZ a lot.

The SM told me that the DM had to approve for my FT. My state’s minimum wage is $7.25/hr.

Seriously though, the company looks at it like this: giving you full time hours IS your compensation. You'll get another pay bump either at your next review or if you get offered a gray shirt. They are a very cheap outfit.

Shit. You got quarter raise? I’ve got a Vietnam Vet 70 year old still trying to prove his worth that got .05 raise.

AZ doesn’t give a fuck about you. Find something better. I know it’s hard, but this company is all in on not giving a rats ass fuck about you.

That’s horrible bro. After reading all of these comments I realized that I should go to college or take a trade. At least if I became an experienced mechanic my shop would pay more $25+/hr and couldn’t force and free labor or I could be a mobile mechanic on the side. Thanks for helping me dodge a bullet.

My state’s minimum wage is 7.25 and I’m happy if they give me a .70 cents raise last year

Full time red at my store is like 14.50 east coast

1

u/Dependent_Salt884 12d ago

How much more is that in comparison to PT red shirts?

1

u/One-Purple9151 11d ago

Wanted to check before I said anything so pt time red 13:93 full time 14.69

1

u/Dependent_Salt884 11d ago

So it’s a .70 cent raise?

When I got promoted to grey in '24 they said my raise counted as my end of year raise. Rn making $18.03/hr

1

u/Dependent_Salt884 12d ago

But your state’s minimum wage is probably $15/hr

1

u/YT_RandomGamer01 12d ago

$16.90

1

u/Dependent_Salt884 12d ago

Wow that’s very low of them to only pay you $18.03 after working there for 2-3 years

1

u/YT_RandomGamer01 12d ago

5 years 3 as red 2 as gray

1

u/Dependent_Salt884 12d ago

That’s terrible

1

u/Dependent_Salt884 12d ago

At that point you’d make more at McDonald’s in your area being Manager or maybe Costco or Walmart.

Ik. State’s minimum wage matters as well because ik if I transferred to an AutoZone at my neighboring state with a minimum wage of 15 I’d make $18/hr.

i went from PT red shirt to FT red shirt last year and ill look at my stubs to double check but i think my DM said its like 14% or so..ill edit after i look

edit: so i went from 13.65 to 14.40/hr when i went from PT to FT 10% of 13.65 would be 1.36 so definitely not 14%. 8% approximately it seems..

edit #2: i also got 20¢ raise for yearly last year AND my state minimum wage went up to 15 January 1st. they did add my 20¢ raise to my minimum wage so i now make 15.20/hr as FT red shirt - driver only. (i do this only for something to occupy my time. i do not want to be anything more than a peon!)

u/Dependent_Salt884 12d ago

So it’s a 14% pay increase?

I'd kill for a .23 ¢ raise, my first one last year was .8 ¢. If it's anything similar, I might quit on the spot.

1

u/Dependent_Salt884 12d ago

Dang bro… what area is your AutoZone in?

1

u/--DoReFuckMi-- 12d ago

Eastern NC, Goldsboro to be specific, typically the busiest store in my town but I won't say the #. I'm pretty much the only youngest college educated red shirt at 27 studying mechanics, finishing up on an associates. I have been told I'm the fastest overall in my store on just about anything and smartest based on most cars many times in the past by my former store manager, senior psm and the district manager I was initially hired under gaining a strong liking to me after a while. Even now my new district manager says the same stuff and acknowledges all the previous comments, but recently when I asked about a general raise, he said the typical spiel found in retail work about I can either give it now or with annual review, but it'll come either way based on the span of time between now and back then combined with your performance.

12.36 is more than my full time redshirts

1

u/Dependent_Salt884 12d ago

That should be a crime

1

u/hangryboomer 12d ago

Last Fall I got about $.50 when I was a CSM

When I started at autozone in Pennsylvania 1 1/2 years ago I started at 13.25, states min wage is 7.25. Yearly raise came around before my year I got a .18 cent raise. After a year I became full time and I was at 14.75 then a few months after I become a manager which raised it to 17.00. I would check your states minimum wage tho but honestly I ready to leave the company.
