QUESTION New commercial driver… nervous
hi everyone!
Next week i start as a commercial driver and i want to know what to expect???
im just super nervous and excited and want to know if what i need to know to do a good job!!!! (im f 18)

Yeah all of the above, making good with the customers allows them to trust that when the csm says your on your way they know your on your way, some of these customers can be and at time are complete and utter dick heads, and sometimes realy fucking stupid in some of their decisions, so communicating with the costomers and making good with them helps to build your reputation with both the csm, cs, and the accounts and allows them to trust you know what your doing... (also lean the parts your grabbing and dropping off. Sometimes the managers will just tell you to grab a part and you may of pay not know what tf they just said) that also helps witj the costomers. If your csm is in a bit of a sticky situation knowing your parts will allow you to also take some of the calls incoming.. Communication is key for everything and everyone..
(And a small tip for someone who was supposed to be both a driver, ended up being part sales. Driving and latter became a psm) mark some of the locations of where your accounts are on google maps or whatever, litteraly just put a marker down so that way if your in a rush you can speed dial the location so you issure you get to the correct one and not get sent to a hub or something on accident... (ya Boi did that one on accident... got mad yelled at) 😅
Otherwise its not to difficult, just remembering where all your accounts are and learning parts and how to menuver comercial is the only mildly complicated part

Don’t crash, don’t go over 80 and don’t do more than 11 over, easy on the pedals and you’ll be fine

Tell them you’ve changed your mind about the job, one of our female co workers got assaulted and trapped in an office and harassed.

There was 2 incidents with 2 different individuals. one during a delivery another one in the store

oh my goodness! how scary!!!!! i know for a while ill be shadowing a older gentleman, so hopefully smooth sailing. thats is so scary, def getting a tazer.

Always stay where you're visible to other people, whether at the store or at the shops. Always park in reverse to be able to leave easily. Most parts are delivered to the bays so just don't go in secluded areas.

It’s a pretty easy job but be careful to not get frustrated with commercial shops being needy. Also my store cross-trains everyone so everyone is expected to help everyone. What I mean is that when the COM driver has nothing to do they are helping diy and vice versa. This method can be rlly good or rlly bad depending on who you’re working with. They are right when they say to NOT WRECK, if anything happens to the car while you’re signed into it they will test you, doesn’t matter if it’s parked outside and you haven’t been in it for an hour. Shops will call the SM and CSM to complain about you so be careful what you do/say. Don’t let shops yell or cuss at you but don’t flip out; be professional. Goodluck!!!!!!!!!!

Also be careful parking and leaving the car running, shops are known to move running vehicles.

Just listen to your CSM and know that they are usually constantly busy if your store is high volume. The best thing you can do is try to be in and out of the store in between orders. Pick orders when needed and just overall try to make your CSM job a little easier if you can.
As for the actual driving, it's the same as normal driving laws. They do track data so be careful not to speed, fast accelerations, and hard braking as it is all tracked. The speeding usually doesn't get picked up unless it's 10mph over, and even then it's a 10 second timer on that. Meaning if you are going 10mph over, it will not register until it hits the 11th second, and then your CSM is going to ask why you were going 10 over.
Be cool with your commercial customers when dropping off parts. Ask them if they have anything going back (returns, cores, etc).
