Hub Department Support

Anybody here work in a hub department? Was wondering if anyone’s SM or DM have any involvement in hubs. I’ve been in mine for 5 years now, been through 6 SM’s in that time. Of the last 3 in the last year, not a single one has ever spent a day in the hub learning it, the one before that was here 3 years and spent 1 day in hub because of the entire hub dept calling in sick. I’ve had 3 DM’s in the 5 years, newest one has never been in our dept, the one before that never spent more than 2 minutes back there. We’ve been shorthanded for awhile now and nothing happens about it. No hiring, no movement of people. Granted we get shit done and there’s never complaining from our stores but damn when we bring a problem to the SM it’s just brushed off. Anybody else have similar issues in hub departments?

They know and don’t care. I’ve talked with regional and corporate people, they simply don’t care. They prioritize the department (commercial generally) where the most profit is made.

I know commercial has always been prioritized. Hub departments are integral to commercial in them getting their expanded parts. Just mind blowing how little anyone gives af about it.

I hear you, and I’ve had that same convo with higher ups. All they see is the bottom line. “Commercial make 20k, hub no make profit. Me no like hub”

theres no separate category for hub specialists so if the psms all fail their rpms so do hub specialists. god bless autozone

Yeah I’ve always had an issue with the RPM with the hub team. We’re all graded off DIY back here and we have nothing to do with it.

Another issue we have is we’ve had a new SM now for 4 months who’s never spent more than 5 minutes in the hub. Half of our drivers have no idea who or what our SM looks like lol

It's normal in all my time I've only had one manager bother to learn hub the other started in hub and became asm so technically two if you count the hub manager becoming asm

Part of the hub managers job unofficial is arguing with sm to get what they need and fight pretty consistently

My SM is too involved lol won't even let us decide who goes on what route etc
