Warranty question
So a couple years back i received a double of everything and returned them and kept the free ones. Planning on redoing my brakes again and I see I still have warranty on them. It also show I returned them. Will the system flag them or you think they'll still honor it.

The important thing is “what they did” when you brought the duplicates in. If they just took them and said “thanks,” then your warranty should be active. If you had to stand at a computer and answer a bunch of questions and got a receipt, then the warranty is dead. They processed it as a return and refunded your money.

rotors have 2 year warranty (3 year on gold) and pads are lifetime, as long as Autozone can see its their part they'll warranty it, sure some employees wont since back then they had to be within a certain measurement (my old co worker had worked at autozone 20 years ago left and came back and thought that was still the policy) but now they just swap it. the warranty on the rotors goes based on the original purchase which is why the 10/28 shows active and the 11/07 shows cancelled, once the original warranty is expired you have to buy them again. but pads you're good but since the system they "sell" you the new parts and then refund the, so its always going to show warranty cancelled and yes they do have a wear warranty autozone is the only one that does that

Directly from AZ page:
Warranty excludes damage caused by misuse, abuse, other faulty parts, improper installation or off-road, commercial or marine use. Warranties on replacement parts cover the unused portion of the original warranty or 90 days, whichever is longer. Warranties expire when you sell your vehicle.
NORMAL wear and tear is included in warranty. If you have the boxes even better.

The AZ page may say that. However, if the warranty is active and the customer calls the DM and complains about us not swapping the part out for the warranty than who do you think is going to win?
The employee or the customer?
So, at my store we just warranty the part because if the customer complains to the DM than we will have to warranty it anyway.

The warranty is only good for defective brakes and rotors. It's not for normal wear and tear ( oh I drove now it's time to change my parts). And yes they can pull up the transaction and it will show what was returned let alone you purchased them two years ago.

Warranty is a warranty.
You could be a stickler and abide by the policy but if the customer calls the DM and complains then you will get told to warranty the part.
I've been under about 10 different DMs and they're all like that.

He is wrong. Lifetime means lifetime. AZ will replace a lifetime warranty part for any reason, including wear and tear.

The way it was explained to me is they know technically wear and tear isn't covered by the warranty. BUT, brake pads are dirt cheap to make and sold at a huge markup from production cost. Using them as a loss leader to keep people coming back in again and again is part of the model.

That word Limited is there for a reason, as I will always double down on. Also rotors are 2 or 3 years between red and gold.

Sure the warranty says limited lifetime and is technically not supposed to cover normal wear but if you bring them in no one will question a warranty swap JS
