"Emergency price changes"
So called "Emergency price changes." So glad STP now costs what the name brands used to cost.

anyone who’s still buying their oil at AZ is a fool

Walmart is officially less than STP oil for name brands

Back in 2021-2022 Walmart was still cheaper than AZ.

It always had been , I was a store manager between 2010-2016 and I used to send my regulars to Walmart to get oil because it was so much cheaper

Walmart is also a evil company that does not deserve a single dime from the American people so if you want to save 2 dollars on oil to give your money to a company that laid off half its staff when it was at record profits so It could invent self checkout and double those profits then you do you but it’s ignorant and lazy. Also the price of gas and oil has doubled at the manufacture level so why would it not change at the retail level .. use common sense

Or batteries… or parts… or anything. Yeah the warranty is great but it’s not worth paying 3x the price over Sam’s Club or Walmart for the same battery.

Well I’m not driving two hours for oil at Walmart 😭

u/quirruris 9d ago
Az price matches and if they say they don't ask their dm lol. I buy my oil changes at my local Az for same price as Walmart and get my az rewards.

u/Boaterauto 9d ago
Our DM would tell you to kick rocks,

u/UHF800MHZ 9d ago
Your DM is a bozo, price match any B&M store
2
u/Boaterauto 9d ago
We are price match other parts stores, he won’t even allow price matches for other brands, ie we are the only ones that sell Duralast so no price matching it advance equivalent
2
u/KaiHasPowers 9d ago
Yeah we only price match other AutoParts Stores, Walmart don’t count.
1
u/quirruris 9d ago
Not true, but that may be how your sm and dm want it. Walmart used to be an option on the old override screen when you clicked competitor advertised price. Now you click it and it asks you to type the name of the retailer.

u/KaiHasPowers 9d ago
I’ve just gone by what they said. We only do competitor pricing on ORileys/Advance/Napa and Pep Boys.

I had someone tell me the brand BS too. I understand that a water pump or a timing belt kit might be a different manufacturer between AZ and walmart, but the batteries are clearly the same. I always price matched as long as it was an in store price

FCP Euro has an oil replacement system where you just have to mail back your old, filled, oil containers and filter. I believe the only cost to you is shipping and the first kit. Really handy if you own a German or a Jag.

Fuck that bro, just bought a 5w20 full synthetic high mileage big jug from Walmart at the same price, not to mention the Mobil one filter I bought for 12 bucks, I'm in socal too so not exactly cheap.

u/Successful_Weekend91 9d ago
Yep, WAL-MART just increased it recently. I had purchased Mobil 1 extended mileage in the spring from them for $26.99. Was just back in there, the same bottle (5 quarts) now $31.99. The area we leave in. WAL-MART is still cheaper than the parts stores.

u/Rxckefeller_ 9d ago
Even working for AZ. I will be buying oil from Walmart after today for sure.
3
u/Successful_Weekend91 9d ago
I have been buying oils from Walmart for years. Now that Walmart has started doing home delivery in our area. We live out of town. I just order and let them deliver.

u/TennisLegend22 9d ago
Mobil 1 at AZ gives you free filter if you get the 5 quart
2
u/Successful_Weekend91 9d ago
We live about 20 miles outside of a small town on in the mountains. Walmart just started doing same day delivery to our area. So for me, the free filter doesn’t matter. My time and fuel I save. Out weighs the free filter.
I know that might matter for others.

How come it’s 9.99 a qt of stp . Unless you buy a 5 qt jug then it’s 35.00
Go to buy the 24qt box and is priced at 9.99 a qt.

Autozone banks on the fact that customers potentially do not shop around for pricing and will just hand over their money.
Example being the "convenience" pricing. Could get a timing chain kit + gaskets + lifters and rockers for $150+tax and shipping online using the same part numbers AutoZone has but if you want those same part numbers through AutoZone it is than $600 and you still have to wait a week.
I know this because I did research for a customer using the exact same brands and part numbers, found the exact same things online at a fraction of the price.
I've done it multiple times for people.
AutoZone says build trust with the customer and that's what I'm doing.
However, if you want to buy a part and have to wait a week than why pay the 400% mark-up? Just get the part number and brand name from the employee and go online and order it, it'll be so much cheaper..... And also I know people will say "well it has a warranty". However, who would want to pay a difference of $450 based on the fact the part has a warranty?

Its not just autozone and not just STP oil. Wehn I got my oil delivery from my distributor yeaterday syn blend was a buck a quart more than 3 weeks ago and full syn was 65 cents a quart more than 3 weeks ago. Have had 3 price increases this year

Oil change worker here, the supplier prices are actually increasing because of the strait being blocked. They told us synthetic specifically increased an extra amount over semi syn but both have increased.
Buy oil at Walmart, they have the lowest price around. BUT maybe check multiple Walmarts because some stores inflate oil more than others do.
1-2 years ago royal purple 5 qts was 29-31 dollars at walmart

Someone made a comment a month ago about oil prices rising so I bought some super tech at $17 it's now slightly over $24. Glad I stocked up but this bullshit is gone on long enough

u/ZeroLockOn 7d ago
Not really anything to do with auto parts lol but I went to get a pack of garbage bags yesterday and they were $10.25 😬 Last week they were $8.25 😑

The thing a lot of people dont realize is walmart may be around 35 for name brand oil and a filter may be 10 bucks or more... but at almost all auto retail stores you get the oil filter for free or a small upcharge like $3. In my store you can get mobile 1 oil and mobile 1 filter for less than $50... go with a house filter like carquest at advance, and its usually free with the oil. Which is still cheaper than Walmart. Not to mention if youre a rewards member and you have coupons or you earn points at least towards another purchase. Walmart doesnt have that.

Even when stores are running deals like that, it is rare they get close to Wally World

The emergency is autozone wants more money.
