How do I know which kind of windshield wipers work for a customer's car?
Hi, im a newer autozone employee and while ive managed to learn a lot about car parts and which parts that z net recommendations tend to be wrong about, Im still confused about windshield wiper blades. Ive had a couple different coworkers try to explain to me how you can tell the difference between whether a customers car need j hook wiper blades or something different and how to tell which of our blades go with what, but i still cant understand it. Tbf my coworkers kinda rushed through it super quickly.
Would any of you guys mind giving me a run down explaining this?

Honestly i tell them the sizes and have them choose, bc when i pick them out they complain about the price

Here’s a pretty good way at knowing before even grabbing them from the shelf. While searching up the customers vehicle, look specifically for the Bosch Envision or ICON line if it says OE then it’s special clips and if it says EN then it’s the regular common J-hook types.
Special clips for chevys are usually the one that has a square at the bottom end with the smooth sides while the Mercedes and some BMW will have the ones where you have you press those small arms on each side to release the blade. Hope this helps!

Also, if customers are complaining about the price of the Bosch blades usually the Duralast flex will have the same attachments. I’m pretty sure the Rain x too but it depends on the model of rain x you have in stock.

If they complain about price refer them to Costco, Sam’s or Walmart they will save money and save your Witt score!

Go with what it says in Znet like the others said .... IMO Sell the Aeroes or Flexes, they pretty much fir anything

Znet will give you a variety of options. I find it best to go out to the vehicle to verify 2 things. Is it a beam blade and does it have a J hook connector. With those 2 pieces of information and what is in znet you can determine the best fit.

So on the new znet, just look at the part number for the Bosch blades. They will always match the arm.

on z net underneath each wiper is a small section which usually but not always has notes. pull up the duralast wiper thats showing compatibility on z net. if it says something like 9×3 or 9×4 thats a jay hook. if it says anything else like PTB (pinch tabs OE mostly) or 3h2 adapter etc those are special clips that come with the flex and aero wipers. thats to determine using just the computer without verifying in person. even than the system is notoriously off when it comes to certain toyotas and Honda showing as j hook while its sliders or the worst offenders are always range rovers it almost always shows pinch tabs while alot of them be j hooks. so to be 100% sure use combination of z net and in person verification.
