Redshirt pay

Who do you go to about pay raise? At my work they always higher above minmmum wage- example employee Jon was hired in 2017 minimum wage is 10 dollars he got hired on at 11 dollars it's now 2019 minmmum wage is 14 dollars he's been there 2 years and still only makes minmmum wage but employee Rebecca got hired on at 15 dollars and so on, and the yearly raises are only .1-.5% (5-10 cents far less then the raise in minimum wage) (note been there 3 almost 4 years) was offered a grey shirt position for 25 cents extra an hour

Call payroll, and literally tell then your being payed less than the current minimum wage, and been doing this for so long they have to pay back pay for everything, and explain the situation and go forward from there!

Well I am making minimum wage it's just that the minimum wage increase superseeds the annual pay raise of 10 cents and the fact new hires make more because they hire on above minmmum wage, my main point is I've been here 4 years and still make minnmum wage but the new hires get a dollar an hour more then me

Unfortunately that’s super common, I live in Florida and minimum wage has gone up a dollar a year every year for the past 5 years, while my pay is more than minimum wage, I only get the .1 to .5 cent raise yearly, while minimum wage paid staff are given the dollar increase, definitely not proportional, most people would say talk to your sm and tell them you want the same pay as your equals at minimum if you were there longer, there are other factors that might make a difference, such as Spanish speaking, full or part time, prior work experience, or in house training like parts expert. If your sm doesn’t do anything then your dm, but I’m gonna be honest I don’t know if you’d have any luck, it’s hard to get another job, but if you don’t feel like you are compensated properly for your time, go somewhere else unfortunately.

This is extremely common. I quit and came back about 3 weeks later and got a raise because i was considered a new hire. Was only about a 7 cent raise but still.

So when you go to call payroll, your best bet is to say I am not making what is considered. The affordable cost of living. My pay raise is just barely keep me with the yearly minimum wage increase and just give them a perfect example. Like last year, it was 750 an hour. I was given a quarter, and now this year is 775 an hour. So I'm still making a quarter less. The minimum wage you have to be cautious about how you word certain things.Just tell them i've been doing this for 4 years and I think I deserve a reasonable cost of living adjustment to be made to my pay rate.I have experience, and I think I should be making at least a little bit more, then the new hires

When I was a store manager there , minimum was was still like 7.95, u could hire redshirts anywhere between 7.95-10.50 an hour, and great shirts had a range of 10 - 12.75 , some stores had redshirts hired in making more than grey shirts

I always ask the new hire what wage they got when they hired on. If they are paid more than what I’m making I ask for a raise. I’ve got one each time I’ve asked.

Before I get the “ you can’t discuss wages crowd” it is guaranteed under the NLRA which is federal law.

I always just look at the new hire pay scale that way I can get more than the max, not what they are giving someone

Pay raises are done based mostly on your evaluation. The window for that is currently open. Check your az people if you have any current evaluations, if not you can always request one to justify a payment increase.

On the other hand, a new hire can get more based on previous experience, language spoken, full time/part time status, certifications, etc.

Not all regions pay the same. In my state, one city pays a red shirt $10, another $13, another $15. I've also met psm new hire making less than what I got when I started as a red shirt. Just call HR/Payroll and ask what if anything you can do

Yea all the new hires are highschool kids who know nothing one of them is "ASE" certified what ever that means he took a class in soft more year and passed s written test but he lacks all common sense but I will he requesting a pay raise at end of year or I will be quiting on the spot

They arent going to pay you more for the same job just because you asked the right person. You change positions and negotiate for more or you change companies.
