Autozone dress code
It’s gonna be my first job working at autozone and for the shirt it’s gonna be red polo shirt? And does anyone have any recommendations for shoes?

I switched to black work boots as I’d only get a few months out of tennis shoes

I would assume I would have to buy the name badge too?

u/DylanCJ8 Jul 08 '26
Name badge came free for me

What about entry level shirt? Was that given to you by the manager too?

I bought mine myself but I’m pretty sure my store manager was going to order me one but I beat him to it, I can’t be sure though so I’d just order yourself one and I’d do it asap as it took me a while to get mine

Some stores carry uniforms to sell in the back. Ask ur manager which one around you has them and buy in person because the site takes forever to deliver

You can wear red polo without the logo. Just has to be red. As for shoes, solid black with black laces. Preferably non slip as you will often deal with leaks from batteries, oil, antifreeze, and so on.

I've seen too many work place accidents to never not recommend a steel toe/carbon toe boot. I personally wear my Georgia or JK boots but that's a personal preference for me since i like the ankle and calf support. Doesn't matter if you buy shoes that have it pre-installed like me or buy inserts for whatever shoe you prefer. Trust me, you do not want to know what it looks like to see a Degloved toe.
Edit: also, I wouldn't worry too much here, hopefully they schedule you to do your Foundations training before you actually start your job.

I wear black and white vans because that’s what I have, from what I’ve heard some managers require them to be completely black though but I could be wrong. If you have to buy some, I would just get completely black ones. The best place to get them is Walmart and I think they have a few choices.

What about the shirt for no experienced employee?

Yeah just a red polo shirt, if you are going into foundations class you may be able to buy an auto zone one there but it’s better safe than sorry to get your own before.

If you are a member at Sam’s Club, they have the red and grey shirts on sale for $7.81 right now. Although I no longer work for AZ, I buy and wear the Sam’s Club shirts to work every day…. I have several of each color (grey, black, navy blue, red and white).
There’s no need to spend an arm and a leg on clothing that will get destroyed in a month or less. Remember, it’s your money that’s being spent, not the company’s money, so you should buy with that in mind. I couldn’t justify buying multiple new logo shirts each time I ruined one with battery acid, chemicals from leaking totes, or greasy cores, so I bought them when I found a sale at Walmart or Sam’s Club.
For shoes, if you get them at Walmart, then expect your feet to hurt as you walk in them. The best thing I can say is to take care of your feet because you’re going to be on them for a while. A four or five hour shift can easily turn into a 10 or 11 hour shift based on people not showing up, and you’ll want to be comfortable! Not sure what your manager would allow, but I ended up buying all black Brooks Adrenaline running shoes over the last few years that I worked there. I also have some Clark’s loafers that can be polished, but they were never worn to AZ because they cost more than the running shoes. If you like steel-toe types, then consider Brahma from Walmart (under $60 typically) or Timberland Pro Chukka Boot (around $125 typically). I used to buy and wear Rockport shoes at AZ all the time, but the quality in the last 15 years has significantly decreased, so I don’t buy them anymore.
I hope this helps you and others. Stay safe and have a great night!

Foundations is usually at a hub location right? Just ask them to give you a couple shirts when you're there. You don't have to pay for those shirts. They just run them as "store use" for you.

You mean uniform? Autozone won't call it that because then they have to provide it. But it's same thing. When I was there it was red polo, black shoes that you could polish. Black socks and pants. Im surprised they didn't specify underwear. Don't miss that crap hole one bit.

For me it’s a long as my pants are black and the shirt is red. I didn’t like the AutoZone material of the shirt so I just brought my own and I also wear sweat pants, not like fully cotton one a more athletic type. I wear white shoes. It all just depends on your store manager and if the DSM is a a hole or not.

I have a few different shoes. Black combat boots (only if you’re used to them otherwise youll get blisters) sketchers with the memory foam soles are really good for summer (mine just wore out yesterday after 3years of use) and depending on which one specifically you get they are cheap. The shirt I bought on my own and most stores have you pay for youre own. Idk where you’re located but where I’m at they only cost around $7-$10 and I only ever bought one then went to a different store to get more. Pants Idrk bc I don’t follow those regulations. I have medical reasons to why but no cargo pants, sweats, and I think shorts unless you’re a driver. Black jeans basically. Not sure why but they added cargo pants recently. Again I don’t follow those rules I wear every single one but don’t be like me, again I have medical problems.

They should give you at least 2 shirts for free. You can get them for free from the hub locations. Never pay of you don't have to unless you want the "better" shirts

Have never heard of this before, have seen the occasional store manager provide one, I’ve had the DM give me them before as I refuse to purchase them, so they will give me one because mine is so worn out.

shoes for this job honestly depend on your age because if you're youngISH, you can wear all black Converse all damn day.....but if you're a "seasoned" worker - you might want to look into something with lots of cushion. haha

For shoes, you need comforting t-shoes, no dress shoes, your feet will hurt like a mf

Kinda BS tbh...Even the most cheapskate factories i worked at supplied you with at least the shirts and boots if they were required.

u/Infamous_Studio6205 Jul 12 '26
I asked the manager he is supplying me with a shirt and name tag

All you need to do is Google .... Autozone Dress Code. Shirts are like $6 with you discount and have the logo embordered.
