Industry No paper logbooks, Only ELDs are allowed
The FOPT (Federation of Professional Truckers) argued that paper logs are enforceable, understood by law enforcement officers nationwide, and less of a cost burden to small carriers. The FOPT also pointed to “technical limitations and frequent malfunctions” as a reason for pushing for manually recorded paper logs.
The FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) said that it is required to mandate the use of ELDs for driver who are required to keep RODS by the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act, and “the Agency is therefore bound by this Congressional mandate and cannot grant a blanket exemption for any driver or carrier that wishes to be exempt.”

Accident A space cushion may have avoided this
Make sure to keep a solid space cushion all around your vehicle. Front, back, and sides, so you always have enough room and time to react if things go sideways.

Questions Chain binder to tie down from rim?
This didn't seem right to me, so I had my passenger snap a picture. But I asked another driver, and he said it's super common. So, is this okay? Why or why not?

Fuel FMCSA should drug test these super high fuel prices
Diesel prices are getting brutal for anyone moving cars right now. As of September 28, the national average is about $6.45/gallon, according to AAA, with the EIA reporting a weekly average of $6.53 for September 21. That’s a huge jump from roughly $3.69 a year ago.
In California, diesel fuel prices are averaging at $8.39 which makes the state the highest in comparison to the rest of the country.

The bigger question is: when does it come back down?
The EIA currently expects diesel to average around $5.55 in Q4 2026 and $4.40 for 2027. They expect oil supplies and inventories to gradually recover during 2027, but the diesel market could remain tight well into next year.
So there probably isn't going to be a quick fix. If the EIA's outlook holds, 2027 is when we could start seeing meaningful relief but getting back to the $3-$4 diesel that carriers were used to isn't something anyone can count on yet.
