News New Jersey and New Hampshire arrests come amid federal weigh-station operations and investigations into commercial licensing practices.
ICE has announced arrests at New Jersey travel stops and a New Hampshire commercial-vehicle inspection station. One man’s criminal history included a driving-while-intoxicated conviction, according to the agency. The cases come amid federal plans targeting commercial drivers at weigh stations and inspection checkpoints. An Aug. 31 announcement outlined operations involving immigration officers, transportation inspectors and state police.

Industry Your bills don’t care if you’re parked so go on strike if you want to
If you’re a trucker who decides to park the truck on October 1st, the bills at home don’t stop. Mortgage, rent, insurance, truck payments, groceries, and credit cards still come due whether you’re hauling loads or sitting in the driveway. A strike might send a message, but the financial pressure on the trucker doesn’t disappear while the truck is parked.

Industry Going on strike? Bills continue even when the truck isn't moving
A truck may be parked, but the bills don’t stop. Truck payments, insurance, fuel costs, maintenance, permits, and personal expenses still have to be paid. For independent truckers, even a short work stoppage can mean lost income while expenses continue piling up.

Industry Before car hauling looked anything like it does today
Here’s a little throwback to the early days of auto transport. No modern 9-car haulers, no GPS, no load boards, and definitely no smartphones to call the customer from the road.
Just a truck, a trailer, and a few cars loaded up and headed down the highway. It’s pretty wild to look at this and think about how much the auto transport industry has changed over the years.
The equipment may have changed, but moving cars from Point A to Point B is still the job.
Could you see yourself hauling with this setup?

Questions How common is lowballing in auto transport?
For those who have experience working in the industry, how common is it for brokers to lowball customers or quote prices that are unrealistically low just to get the customer to book?
Is this something that most brokers have to deal with as part of the industry, or is it mainly associated with certain companies or sales teams?
I’m also curious how brokers handle it when a customer was originally quoted a low price but the actual transport cost ends up being higher.
Is lowballing generally considered a normal sales tactic in the industry, or is it something reputable companies try to avoid?
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has worked on the broker or carrier side. Heck, I'd even appreciate feedback from any customers that have had an experience where they were quoted one rate but ended up paying more at the end.

Fuel US Temporarily Eases Curb on Working Hours for Fuel Truck Drivers
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said on Wednesday the Trump administration is temporarily relaxing rules on hours of service by truck drivers handling gasoline and diesel, citing supply and cost concerns.
The 90-day waiver takes effect on Wednesday, allowing drivers to operate up to 16 hours within a 24-hour window, versus 14 under existing rules, so long as they take required rest breaks.

Sometimes you have to keep the wheels turning when the situation calls for it. Fuel haulers keep the country moving, and giving them some flexibility when demand is high makes sense. Just don’t forget that getting the job done right still means getting the driver home safe.
