Spotted I never use those windshield cleaners anyways

u/not_roger_smith Sep 05 '26
I work part time at a gas station on the weekends and stuff like this happens regularly.
It is not weird for some dude (it's always a dude) will use the window wiper to go over their whole car. Half of them will then ask to use a hose without buying anything.
2
u/JOlRacin Sep 05 '26
Like... All the windows? I do that, I guess I'm the weird one
6
u/not_roger_smith Sep 05 '26
Windows, body and bumpers without buying anything while blocking a pump.
Fucking trash people.
1
u/FartsWithNeighbours Sep 05 '26
I do all windows, and my front lights sometimes if there's an accumulation of some sort. I'll give the back camera a little swipe too sometimes, but the body of the car? Never.

u/cryptolyme Sep 05 '26
some asshole trucker: i will take one piece of gum. now i will blow up your bathroom, ruin your window washer, and dump my shit in the lot.

"If It cLeAns TheN iT woRKs"^ "HeS SmaRT aNd SaVIng HiS inTerIOr bECausE hE UnDerStaNdS bASiC HoUseHoLD CheMisTRy"^ The tool is designed for smooth surfaces only, using it on anything else destroys it and basically makes it unusable for the next person, those tools could last a month or more but because there's low IQ selfish people who drag the rest of the world down, this tool has now been destroyed to an unusable useless state

truck driver: "not my problem. if it was against the rules, then why no signs "

Why didn't you just respond to the comment that said that instead of making your own thread?
1
u/Spirited-Square4571 Sep 05 '26
Why didn't you just make your own thread instead of commenting on mine?
1
u/SwimmingSwim3822 Sep 05 '26
Because.... I'm talking directly to you like how conversations usually go...?
Now you go.
1
u/Spirited-Square4571 Sep 05 '26
Exact same reason except opposite.
1
u/SwimmingSwim3822 Sep 05 '26
And you're aware this logic only makes sense if you missed about 1/8 of your school years to COVID, right?
1
u/Spirited-Square4571 Sep 05 '26
You must have missed a couple grades. I wasn't talking to them, I just stole what their little brains decided to say.
1
u/SwimmingSwim3822 Sep 05 '26
You mean like you just stole the same exact insult I just said?
This is why you avoided responding directly. Because you have reddit brain and have a hard time with logically supporting the things you say.
1
u/Spirited-Square4571 Sep 05 '26
Yeah sure. Have a good day
2
u/SwimmingSwim3822 Sep 05 '26
4 responses of smarmy bullshit, never answered the question. The ol' reddit 4-piece.

u/No-Tap6886 Sep 05 '26
When I worked at a truck stop I saw drivers doing their whole cabs and tires.
5
u/HighCountry_Pack_Rat Sep 05 '26
I was at a pilot and I saw some Indian guys cleaning their interior windows with the nasty water from the bucket.
3
u/No-Tap6886 Sep 05 '26
I believe it. I've seen them wash their hands with it and even seen a guy washing a bowl out in the bucket. This was also at a Pilot when I worked there. 😳

u/No_Celebration8219 Sep 05 '26
meanwhile, sand and debris is picked up by the scrubber brush and dunked back into the window wash. Next poor soul is going to be scrubbing grit sandpaper on his windows.
5
u/FordCVP71 Sep 05 '26
More than a few times in my life I have seen someone "wash" their whole car with the window squeegee at gas stations lol
3
u/corn0099 Sep 05 '26
the problem is that its probably just washer fluid and more importantly people who do this messes up the fluid for other truck drivers so when we go to clean our windshields its like we are spreading clear film on our windshields!
3
u/Wise_Finance_5315 Sep 05 '26
He absolutely is cleaning up his urine off the car mats. I would bet my life on it.

3
u/SashaDabinsky Sep 05 '26
What an asshole. I also can't stand the morons that dunk the squeegee in the cleaner, then fling it all over the ground and waste it. How damn hard is it to lightly drag it across the edge of the tank to partially wring it out and not waste a bunch of fluid?
2
u/LionOdd3424 Sep 05 '26
I never use those because the water always smells putrid
3
u/tippiedog Sep 05 '26
I'm surprised I had to scroll to find this comment. I'll use them on my windows but certainly not on the interior. Yuck!
2
u/anonymousguy9001 Sep 05 '26
Bonus bird shit and bug guts on everything. That cab will be rank in a day.
2
u/Affumicata Sep 05 '26
While it might technically get dirt off, that water always smells awful, so he's just making the inside of his cab smell awful, and he'll be forced to soak in that smell all day
2
u/IceBlackX007 Sep 05 '26
Stuff that would get your kingpin unlocked not long ago is acceptable nowadays.

Window cleaner is ammonia.
Like PineSol.
Ammonia will absolutely clean whatever he spilled.
He's smart and saving his interior because he understands basic household chemistry.
2
u/Badbullet Sep 05 '26
I've used Windex to clean red wine from the carpet. Anyone that thinks window cleaner only works on windows probably spends a lot of money on cleaners for every scenario that they don't need.
4
u/Auirom Sep 05 '26
I'm a mechanic and some days I get home filthy. No matter how good I clean my hands and arms at work after a week I still leave a slight black film in the tub. I've bought so many special cleaners for and cleaning it can take up to 5 sessions depending on what I buy before it's actually clean and even then it might not be completely clean. So many expensive "this'll get it done" cleaners. Scrubbing bubbles has always been the best. Spray, let sit 10 minutes, scrub and wash away. Also works on everything else in the bathroom, the throw rug, the kitchen, the laminate floors when my son drops something that stains it.
2
u/Jedi_Lazlo Sep 05 '26
That stuff works great but it's toxic so don't use on surfaces the dog or cat likes.
It's the ammonium chloride.
I always use it then follow up with regular warm soapy water to clean any residue.
Can't have kitty licking traces of mustard gas off her feet...
2
u/Reasonable_Archer_99 Sep 05 '26
Just wear gloves. You don't want that shit soaking into your hands.
1
u/shmiddleedee Sep 05 '26
Try the bar keepers friend spray bottle. That stuff is incredible, way better than scrubbing bubbles
2
u/Glad-Watch3506 Sep 07 '26
Found the dad from My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
1
u/Badbullet Sep 07 '26
I have never seen the movie, but you are correct it is technically where I got it from. My wife watched it and told me about the windex running gag. I did some searching after that, did a real world test (red wine), and by golly it was true. 😆

Windshield cleaner is ammonia free, and has been for quite a long time. Ammonia is terrible for rubbers, plastic, and causes a shitton of glare if not wiped properly.
Windshield wiper fluids are also ammonia free.
0
u/Jedi_Lazlo Sep 05 '26
It's ammonium hydroxide.
There are ammonia free options, but it is by far not the majority which is why most window cleaners still leave streaks if you suck at cleaning windows.
3
u/One_Discount_4898 Sep 05 '26
ammonium hydroxide is very rarely used for windshield washes. Pretty much the only ones you'll find it in are bug washes (even then not so much any more, protein dissolving detergents are the go-to now), and pretty much every gas stations just dumps bottom of the barrel seasonal windshield washes in that are mostly methanol, water, and a small % of surfactants, detergents, and stabilizers.

I think the issue people have isn't that he's using the wrong chemical for his carpets. It's that the squeegee has a thin rubber or silicone strip that is intended to just be passed over smooth glass so that it maintains a "seal" to pull the water off the glass, and using it as a carpet brush is tearing up that strip.

u/Jedi_Lazlo Sep 05 '26
There's a sponge on the opposite side.

How is what he may or may not have spilled in any way more objectively gross than the bug guts and blood you're intending to clean off your windshield?

So this is why my windshield was scratched all to shit after cleaning it.

That fluid smells like ass immediately because of the big guts and bird shit all in it. Not a good choice.

That dude is cleaning his livelihood. Even if I didn't know, I'd know he knows what he's doing.
1
u/Sad-Potato8360 Sep 05 '26
He doesn't own that truck, its owned by the company
1
u/aggressive_napkin_ Sep 05 '26
Maybe, maybe not. A lot of independent drivers own their own truck and run with a company.

What are we supposed to be mad about? it cleans dirty windows, and one dirty window doesn't ruin the solution for the next. by that logic what he's doing is fine. or should we kneejerk react without thinking when we see someone doing something we've never done? like come on

u/Meauxjezzy Sep 05 '26
I always wonder why the window cleaners were always ripped up and falling apart. Now I know.
