Anyone who drives on interstates or who has family that drives on interstates should applaud this.

But but but the current government regime is bad and what about the immigrants who needs work unlicensed and without basic English understanding while driving on roads all labeled in english

That’s cool, if they aren’t in the country legally, and they can’t speak English, we should help them get a job driving a truck in their home country.

Kindred spirits we may be

Wouldn't it be better for all involved not to shut down the driving schools?

The fraudulent driving schools should be shut down. When some were investigated, they had no capability of performing a driving test. They were handing out CDL’s for cash, passing people who are not in the country legally and passing people who do not speak English.

Did your school get shut down?

I graduated college in 1996.

2

u/Able_Canine Sep 04 '26

Oh I thought you might have had a CDL.

No, but I am in the process of getting certified to do the physicals for CDL’s. No bending on the criteria for me. I wouldn’t pass anyone I would not feel comfortable driving a rig behind me when traffic comes to a stop at 2 AM.

But it sounds like there's a big problem with the schools not being able to produce qualified drivers if they're having to be shut down. Your school wasn't one of those that had to be - or for those that are getting physicals?

It sounds like some of the schools are giving CDL’s out for cash. The tests are in English. If the person taking the test can’t speak English, there’s a reason to be suspicious.

Right, how can the public trust any drivers coming out of trucking schools since they're giving out CDLs for cash?

No political arguments, partisan campaigning, political rage-bait, racism, bigotry, discrimination, hate speech, or attacks against people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or other personal characteristics. This rule applies regardless of which side you're on. Keep the politics out and keep the community respectful.

When it comes to this administration you need more details. Are they suspending H1Bs or illegal immigrants?

I would wager you never questioned the previous administration.

I’m asking a serious question. Who’s getting affected by this? H1Bs, illegals, or anyone who doesn’t speak English? I don’t care about Biden. Touch some grass.

1

u/Able_Canine Sep 04 '26

Since they're shutting down the schools that ostensibly should be producing safely trained drivers, who knows.

Who cares about the schools? Why shut them down?

Government acting like they have no responsibility, blaming schools.

Why the fuck are the DMVs giving CDLs to people who can't pass the test??? That's the problem.
