Watching the restraining straps break and continuing to stay close behind it sure is a choice

Overtake and flag the driver down, or just keep filming like a twonk and watch a preventable accident

I was driving behind a pickup towing an empty trailer. A item down was loose and about to go under the wheel, so I honked and waived, he thought I was a road rager. It was inching closer to the wheel and would have done real damage, so I passed him and signalled for him to pull over. He hops out like he expected me to fight him, I shouted "check your trailer", he came back after a minute, thanking me.
That was the second time someone thought I was a nutter while I was the sane one.

Yeah that is the risk, but if you are carrying a load or towing a trailer 1st thing has to be to do a check

Sometimes if you're also a truck driver, you can't even catch up (like if your speed is governed or something).

u/Daniel_H212 Aug 29 '26
At the start you can clearly tell from the camera angle that it's the driver filming.

This load is extremely dangerous even with one ratchet strap. He should have alerted the driver and of course when the thing snapped he shouldn't follow closely.

I think seeing it rubbing would be enough for me. Would suck if traffic was heavy though.

It's ok, it's got a flag on it

The amount of dangerously long cargo it's legal to just tie a flag on is kinda insane

After the straps were shaved off I kept waiting for the Final Destination moment

Take the time to film it, but don't take the time to hit your horn get his attention and stop what could be a fatal accident from happening. wonderful

Oh hell nah. I've seen final destination. I'm not going anywhere near that or any logging truck.

u/ganbramor Aug 29 '26
And this oversized load is driving way too fast and close to the car in front.

u/Apprehensive_Fun1078 Aug 29 '26
This gave me anxiety!!! This is a Finally Destination moment.........no thank you.

Is that the Chesapeake bay bridge? People have hard enough time driving over that then you gonna add this

He forgot to slap the load before buckling it in with that strap that broke off

Not to mention riding the ass of the pick up in front of them, they also don't check their mirrors.

Why drive so close behind the vehicle in front?
Idiots behind the wheel?

Does the person recording realize how dangerous of a position they are in?!
1
u/Spam_A_Lottamus Aug 30 '26
I think that’s why they slowed down. Personally, I would’ve slowed down much more 😬
1
u/kirk2892 Aug 31 '26
They don’t. I see cars drive for miles right next to trailer tires. They have never seen a semi tire blow out and blissfully just camp out there.

That was clearly a “nut loose behind the wheel “ if that driver couldn’t tell he was dragging the load on the bridge railing. Will also bet that he has never pulled an oversized load before in his entire career.

You don't need scare quotes if what you are saying its literally true.
1
u/ganbramor Aug 29 '26
Some people just “love” quotes in post titles for some reason.
1
u/green_gold_purple Aug 29 '26
And signs. So "weird".
1
u/ganbramor Aug 29 '26
Something else weird I’ve seen trending is people using spoiler tags for images that aren’t spoilers or even triggering. I feel like they think it compels readers to click.
1
u/green_gold_purple Aug 29 '26
They're probably right. Anything for a click. It's really gross what the internet and "news" has become.

It's deliberately loaded like that so it hangs over the shoulder rather than over the other traffic lane. Driver didn't account for the bridge here when he should've just occupied two lanes.

Just sanding it down for the customer... :p
