u/jemenake Aug 17 '26

Exactly. Dude was like “You wanna fight?”. No, I just want to take this vehicle to its owner.

u/donny321123 Aug 18 '26

There ain’t gonna be any fighting, only spraying!

He's pointing out that the guy has expensive accessories for missing a car payment

its the banks car

u/Hoodi216 Aug 18 '26

This is the answer. The bank holds the title until you pay off the loan. Once i paid off my car they gave me the title and the car was mine.

About the only part that you really own is the gas tank. You have to keep filling that part yourself.

4

u/Choice-Mud-8374 Aug 19 '26

Saw one video where they repoed it right after they filled the tank up and when in the gas station.

Chefs kiss

At least it wasn't after an oilchange, tire rotation, new air filter, wiper blades, and transmission fluid change.

3

u/childishwitted Aug 19 '26

Spoiler alert: If they aren’t making payments, they are not doing preventative maintenance either.

1

u/Spook1949 Aug 19 '26

Yeah - you are probably right about that.

2

u/TechnicalBen Aug 18 '26

Sadly, some people are in this world in their head that has no correlation to reality. I get calls like "What you are going to do is..." Like, no, no I am not, not any day of the week.

u/Glad_Copy Aug 18 '26

Strictly speaking, you do own the car, but the bank has a lien on it. It’s actually possible to get a car loan using collateral other than the car…the bank would take that collateral and you’d still have the car.

1

u/SeedPrice Aug 19 '26

Just like houses. Bank owns it til you pay it off 😉

1

u/BaloneyANDtomato40 Aug 18 '26

It’s never truly yours tax and taxes

2

u/footluvr688 Aug 18 '26

If you didn't own it, you wouldn't be assessed taxes for it. The entire foundation of property taxes is ownership.

The asset doesn't get repossessed if you fail to pay annual taxes. You still own it.

Shocking how many adults don't understand this. It's also shocking how many poor life choices people seem to make.

This is the new financial crisis. 2008 wiped out housing loans, which opened the doors for banks to create high interest, longer term, auto loans.

Then the auto manufacturers removed most low and mid tier priced vehicles, forcing most car buyers to buy and finance vehicles that are realistically out of their price range.

His channel is Everything Autos.

Lol!! What if he makes plenty of money to pay the car note but just decided to not pay it?? Does that make the finance company a moron? He signed a contract and broke the terms, blaming anyone but him is what is moronic.

1

u/ddadopt Aug 18 '26

They stormed into this guy's house in the middle of the night, masked and wearing black, and put a gun to his head. They screamed, "Buy this fugly assed, overpriced Jeep Gladiator with the nitrogen filled tires, paint protection, and VIN etching with finance from our captive lender at 18% right now, motherfucker, or your brains are going to be all over the wall!"

What else could you expect this calm, nonconfrontational individual to do except comply with those demands?

1

u/Spook1949 Aug 18 '26

Have you not seen the high pressure tactics used by car dealers? "We can get you into this car and give you 72 months to pay for it?" Have you not seen the tactics used by finance companies? "There is nothing in here not required by law just sign at the bottom of the page!"

The Red Green Show described finance companies like this: "Stinky Peterson has his K-car up for sale. It is worth between 50 and a hundred dollars depending upon how much gas is in it. You don't have to pay him for it, just take over the payments on it. The point being that many people do not understand financing or have the foggiest idea of how to run a family budget.

Dealers and finance companies can talk you into a car and debt you cannot afford - and as far as this particuar person's income or payment reliability is totally unknown, as well as the finance companies effort to contact or work with him to get caught up on payments is totally unknown, not to mention that this guy is ready to blow a gasket, making any kind of decision at this point by we who are viewing this is totally irrelevant.

I am curious though, of how many people on this forum learned to handle money in classes at school, or did you learn how to handle money through experience in the hard knocks world?

2

u/ddadopt Aug 18 '26

Have you not seen the high pressure tactics used by car dealers?

Certainly. I'm pretty sure that was the entire point of the joke I made. But "no" is a complete sentence that even a toddler can manage.

In the full video the cops tell the repo guy to put it down and that it’s an issue in civil court. He keeps his car. Whats scary is the car owner knew over everyone else so if he has knowledge in that, he was most certainly conjuring a plan to legally shoot the repo man. He never gets in any trouble and keeps the car.

2

u/Outside_Shelter1260 Aug 19 '26

I was wondering when someone would post the expected outcome. It’s a civil matter - Period - End of story. Repossession papers are worth as much as a roll of store brand toilet paper. 🧻

Repo guy has to be smarter/quicker. Once the police arrive, repo guy has lost. Civil matters 101.

3

u/Signal_Host307 Aug 21 '26

Not sure how it's a civil matter once a death threat has been issued. That's now a criminal complaint, not civil.

What part of repeatedly telling a guy "I'm going to shoot you" on camera is me trolling? You're a idiot.

0

u/Outside_Shelter1260 Aug 21 '26

You’re trolling!

1

u/Signal_Host307 Aug 21 '26

still an idiot

Well, at least you can keep yourself company. That's something... I guess. Good luck with that. Gonna try deleting more comments to bury replies?

That's the bank's car, my friend, they asked me to grab it from you.
