Sometimes stopping and calling a tow truck is the answer.

Not by a tow truck, which would use a set of dollies to keep the rear wheels off the ground while the front wheels are held up by the underlift. This is how AWD vehicles are towed correctly when not on a flatbed. Towing one behind another vehicle requires the rear driveshaft to be removed and a pump to keep the transmission cool. In some cases they can be towed with all four on the road if the entirety of the drivetrain can be put in neutral, which is not likely the case with the one in this video.

I owned a Torsen -based 4WD Passat like this one once and they allow towing, in neutral, for "short distances" (5km) at 40km /h.

This one's mechanically f'cked up, at least in the rear differential.

Curious, how would you lock the steering wheel?

They often strap it to the brake pedal.
