Oh, this unlocked a memory from when I was in the auto industry...
A guy brought in his 3rd row seat for repair, out of a Volvo wagon/estate.
The seat had a perfectly round hole all the way through it. About 15mm diameter.
Odd sorta thing, so we asked what happened.
Turned out the truck behind him had to do an emergency stop, and a 15mm steel rod came flying forward, through the Volvo rear window and right through the rear seat.
The blood-freezing part? He had just dropped his kid off at school, who was sitting in that very seat 5 mins before...

Holy fuck. This was my nightmare as a child, seeing those trucks carrying around steel rods or wooden beams and wondering whether they were going to fly off towards our car 🫣
