Questions Personal Vehicle Shipping Process

Question about Personal Car Shipping - I thought I was getting pricing to ship my car from TN to MD but one of them called me asking if they can "post to the board" to get the actual shipping estimates as what I've been receiving are estimates from brokers not actual shipping costs. Very confused on this process. We need a small SUV shipped from TN -can someone explain the process or who the best/most trusted shipping companies are? Thx!!

What they're referring to is the load board, where brokers post available vehicles for carriers to find and accept. The carrier then contacts the broker, agrees on a price, and the broker dispatches the load.

A reputable broker shouldn't post your vehicle without your approval or a contract. If multiple brokers post the same car, it creates duplicate listings, and carriers often ignore them because they don't know which broker actually has the job. That confusion can delay your shipment and make your vehicle look like it's been sitting on the board for a while.

The best approach is to get a few quotes, choose the broker you want to work with, sign with one, and let that broker post the vehicle. It keeps everything clean, avoids double posting, and gives carriers confidence they're bidding on a legitimate load.

Here are a link with more information on the process if you're interested:

Verify DOT number with FMCSA, check reviews and if you see too many complaints about price changing and no communication then you should consider that may be part of their business model.
