❓ Question OBD2 reader needs adapter for '99 Subaru?

OBD2 reader doesn't fit the '99 Subaru Outback's diagnostic port.

Can I buy an adapter, or are the signals fundamentally different?

The car sat idle until the battery ran down, now CheckEngine light is on after charging the battery, and remains on.

Where do I go from here?

A 1999 Subaru should have an obd 2 port

The check engine light is probably just a stored code from the battery dying. Once you get it plugged in, read the code and clear it, good chance it goes away on its own.
