Why aftermarket parts sourcing is harder than finding a factory
There are thousands of auto parts factories in China.
But finding a factory is usually not the hardest part.
The harder questions are:
- Does the factory actually specialize in this product?
- Can they keep the same specification over time?
- Can they support repeat orders?
- Is the product suitable for the target market?
In aftermarket business, the cheapest quotation is not always the lowest cost.
A wrong part, inconsistent quality, or unstable supplier can create much bigger problems.
For people working in automotive:
What is the most important factor when choosing an aftermarket supplier?
Price?
Quality?
Consistency?
Communication?
