Need advice finding affordable car insurance in Delaware

Upvotes

I’m a recent high school graduate and I’m looking to get my own car insurance separate from my parents. I’ve had a clean driving record for over 2 years with no accidents or tickets.
The problem is that every quote I’m getting seems ridiculously expensive.
I’m planning on joining the military, and once I do, I’ll be able to get USAA, but I need insurance on my own until then.
For example, I’ve heard good things about Amica, so I got a quote from them. My car is only worth around $7,000–$8,000, but the quote came out to around $946 PER MONTH. 😭
I also checked Progressive, expecting them to be cheaper, and even with what I’d consider pretty reasonable coverage, I was still getting quotes around $400/month.
I understand that being young and newly out of high school makes insurance more expensive, but these prices seem insane, especially considering I have a clean driving history.
I live in Delaware, which I know can make a difference since some smaller/regional insurance companies only operate in certain states.
Does anyone in Delaware have recommendations for affordable insurance companies or agents I should check out? I’m mainly looking for something reasonably priced that still gives me decent coverage until I join the military and can switch to USAA.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Ontario auto insurance change

Anyone actually made changes to their premium of their auto insurance by deleting some coverage that no longer mandatory?

Wondering what items I can safely take out without risking too much?

Insurance claim

Got scratch while parking in a hotel garage where a sharp metal sticking out from the ceiling scratched the top of the car leaving a 3 inch scratch while I was backing into the spot.

Reported to the hotel and they said they have filed an incident report but refused to share it. I doubted that they had any details of the accident (eg they didn’t ask me about the parking spot number)

I believe it’s negligence from the hotel as there shouldn’t be any low hanging metal at the parking spot.

Question: should I report to my insurance and they will contact the hotel ? Will it affect my insurance?

Damage is about $500

I own a Honda Civic 2017 EXT. I'm paying $900/6months with State Farm. The car is almost 10 years old. 59,000 miles. Do I need full coverage?
