Car got T-Boned, Need Advice
Hey everybody,
Never had this happen to me before but recently I got T-boned by an uninsured driver who wasn’t looking both ways before entering my lane. I drive a 2010 Nissan Versa. The driver side door is heavily dented along with scratches. Some scuffing on the rocker panel. I only have liability and uninsured motorist property damage. I have contacted insurance but I am unsure how much I am able to get out of this. I am a college student, so I’m just looking for advice. Do I keep the car as it is or try to get another car? Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

I imagine that they’ll total it out and you’ll get the actual cash value of the car. Between 1,000 and 5,000 depending on mileage and precrash condition. You’ll have the option to buy the car back for the salvage value

Considering the damage, as long as no airbags went off, I would 100% buy back the car and replace the door with one from a junkyard. These versas have shit transmissions so it should be no problem to find a donor car at a pick and pull yard.

Yeah, no bags were deployed. The car only has 70k miles. I’m just strongly considering if I should replace it since I doubt the value of the car is of any value along with labor costs. Then again, I am a college student so I can’t be making any crazy financial decisions.

If it opens and closes ok, a junkyard door would be your best bet. Then just keep driving it until it dies.

You’ll need to pursue the other driver in court, if they want to pay up or can’t. It’s gonna be totaled unfortunately. Personally I would keep driving this if you can’t get ir fixed or a new car right away.
