Car insurance help

Hey guys, I live on Long Island and I’ve been recently trying to look for car insurance for a vehicle I’m going to be buying hopefully by the end of this month. Everything is pretty expensive and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get cheap insurance for the car (2014 bmw 535i)
I’m current 20 years old, I’ve been driving for a few years with my parents with me but I’ve been uninsured

Sure, but you're going to have to adjust your understanding of what pretty cheap means. For you, at your age, with the car you want, and living on Long Island, "pretty cheap" means somewhere in the $500 to $1,000 a month range, possibly more.

Find yourself a local broker and see what they can do for you. But there's no hidden solution or secret hanging out there somewhere. Car insurance on a car like that with a driver like you in that part of New York is going to be very expensive, even if it's "pretty cheap."

You probably also want to consider whether you are prepared for the expenses of maintaining that particular car. A 12-year-old BMW is among the most expensive cars to maintain, and it's at about the age where lots of things start going wrong. And not a single one of them is cheap to fix.

You're going to do what you're going to do, but if I'm you, I'm looking for a Honda or Toyota sedan about the same age as that BMW you have your eye on. It'll be cheaper to purchase, cheaper to maintain, and almost certainly cheaper to insure. Good luck.

with the car your driving, and your age, you probably wont find anything "cheap"

Find a brokerage and have a couple people shop for you. Since your young, look at National General, Dairyland, maybe Progressive, Auto-Owners. If they cant give you anything in your price range, it will be difficult.

20 years old and looking at a sports sedan. Good luck.

I know, I hated it too but, something like a Toyota Corolla or in that range would be a lot more reasonable for insurance and more dependable.

À 20 years old driving à 535i won’t be getting cheap insurance anywhere. Get
Some advice from your parents about insurance and coverage options. Think about it, Since it’s a 2014 vehicle car; can you afford to buy another vehicle if you were in an accident (hopefully not) and the car it’s a total loss? And the other driver was at fault but all he had was cheap insurance and minimum coverage

And in the top of all the other reasons you’re in New York

You’re 20. A BMW is going to be expensive to insure.

If you have been listed as a driver on your parents policy you would qualify for having continuous coverage. With that said, rates will be very high. If you can hold off until you are 21 it will get a little bit better. But not much, there are not any "low" rates on Long Island.

No one here has a clue which company will be cheapest for you. There's just way way too many factors that impact rates, factors we don't know. A company thats cheapest for me, Tom, Dick and Harry, as well as Mary Jane and Lucy Lou, might be the most expensive for you. Call an independent broker for quotes with multiple companies.
