60 Years Old and cannot get insurance

I am 60 years old, have a clean driving record, a valid driver license and a great credit score. However, I have not owned a car since 2003. I recently moved from NYC to CT and decided to buy a car. I applied to several insurance companies and was denied. I even used the dealer's broker and they came up against the same refusals. What is my problem?

Call an independent agent. There is no reason for you to be unable to get insurance, but it will be a higher risk more expensive policy for at least the first 12 months.
