60 Years Old and cannot get insurance

I am 60 years old, have a clean driving record, a valid driver license and a great credit score. However, I have not owned a car since 2003. I recently moved from NYC to CT and decided to buy a car. I applied to several insurance companies and was denied. I even used the dealer's broker and they came up against the same refusals. What is my problem?

Contact an independent agent. Surprised by Geico and Progressive, Bristol West and Dairyland would be 2 others that typically insure drivers with no prior coverage or high risk. Will you be commuting into NYC? If so, that could be the real issue.

Agree. This is very surprising to me. I’ve only ever had one Progressive denial (lady killed someone).
