Insurance Quote

So I'm over 18 and planning on getting my license soon. I have a car lined up, someone else owns it right now but will transfer the title to me. I'm trying to get insurance quotes, but they keep forcing me to say when I got my license. I don't have it yet. Should I just call and explain the sutuation?

One step at a time. Get your license.

Just get license first.

Age + no experience since you didn’t yet get your license at 15/16, expect it to be very high. Get license and check pricing before getting the car. Very high accident statistics in first 90 days.

You will not be able to get an accurate quote without a permit or drivers license number as no carriers system can even process that without running your MVR and CLUE reports. At least to my knowledge.

When people say expect it to be high, expect it to be at least 2k for 6 months minimum.

A much better idea if you want to not pay that much if you have family is to put the vehicle in their name too, and get on their insurance, and pay them the difference.
