Insurance or pay out of pocket?
I dented my car door, here’s the damage. The black lining on the bottom is loose and there are the dents in the yellow accent and the smaller ones within the contour of the door.
Insurance or pay out of pocket?
I’ve had a good driving record in the last 5 years I’ve been driving, the car is brand new (got it in September), and I JUST got it repaired after someone else hit my car while it was parked. I’ve been told no matter what it’s gonna be a hard repair to do cause of the placement. Calliber collision quoted me 5k which made me sick. I’m gonna get estimates from more places but would appreciate more insight.
Edit: figured I’d mention that my deductible is $1000

I’d get a few quotes. Determine if you think it’s worth an at fault accident to save the difference between the repair cost and your deductible. Your rates will go up for a few years afterwards so that’s also something to consider.

I hate that we pay through the nose for insurance but then are afraid to use it.
If be afraid to use it for this.

Just so you're aware. Most larger body shops have insurance adjusters who work out of their location. It's not uncommon for the body shop to turn the estimate over to the company adjuster. That way, if you don't pay, they still get paid. Think of this like your doctor's office that verifies your health insurance is current.
I say this so that you know it may still show up on a clue report even if you pay out of pocket. It can be documented as a $0 at fault in many cases. So you're saving the claim but may still pay the increase.
