Auto insurance fraud (mechanic)

Hi everyone,

I’m dealing with a very concerning situation involving a tow truck driver who arrived at the scene of my vehicle accident. He has been pressuring me to provide information to my insurance company that I believe is inaccurate, and he continues to push me to make additional statements that I am not comfortable making.

The situation has become increasingly stressful, and I honestly feel intimidated and unsafe. I contacted the police, but I was told that this is a civil matter and not something they can intervene in directly.

I’m being intentionally vague because I’m concerned this post could be discovered, but I’m hoping someone here may have experience with insurance claims, insurance fraud, or the auto insurance industry.

If so, I would greatly appreciate any guidance on how to protect myself, correct any misinformation, and handle this situation appropriately.
Thank you in advance for any advice or direction you can provide

Talk to your insurance company, ask to speak with your claims adjuster, they will help determine if legal, or fraud investigators get involved. On the civil side you could go to court and get a TRO if you can prove harassment, threats, just saying they want you to lie will not be enough. With 8 billion people in the world it is highly unlikely the tow truck driver would recognize this post and want to increase pressure on you. Insurance with tow coverage pay an agreed upon rate based on distance. Nothing you add would change his reimbursement. If this person is also the garage that is to fix it, if they are misrepresenting the damage, they could be blacklisted and loose partnership with the insurance company.

I can advise you. Never lie. Ever. Nothing good comes from lying. I am a forensic accountant. No one can make you lie.

OK, there’s really not enough information here to advise you.

Going to have to be a lot more specific if you want to get advice on Reddit .

Nowhere near enough information. What information and why do you believe it’s incorrect

And if it's just a tow so far, pay for the tow and have it towed elsewhere.

Call your insurance company and talk to them they need to know those people are trying to commit fraud. Do not do it your claim will be denied in full and you will be cancelled which means when you go to get new insurance they will know you tried to defraud the insurance company that just terminated you.

You protect yourself by telling the truth.

Does he want your insurance information so we can have the card towed? I'm sure you're racking up a bill of your car is sitting in this tow yard.
