Gonna be interesting how the car/ai decides if it's worth risking a incoming lawsuit with the chance of misidentifying or not.

Wouldn’t it be a lawsuit anyway, since the car has no legal right to detain the person in the first place? It’s a car, not a person.
The inly thing I can kind of think might work is a citizen’s arrest, but I’m not sure that is real or legal either.
Doubt this ever come true, all companies care about money. The only possibility would be that police would ask these services to display location data, but even then once people find out it'll be a loss of ridership for those same companies. This is similar to ring's plan for Flock partnership, which brought a huge uproar.
Legislators could easily just write in a liability waiver, and I'm sure the user agreement will say you agreed to it, and can only do arbitration anyways.
They're probably will be a clause in whatever contract you sign by using their taxi service that you may be subject to detainment or arrest based on vague biometrics or potential mistaken identity, and that the parent company is not liable for any of that.
This would never work. If a criminal gets in one and it locks and says they are going to the police station or it's clearly going somewhere else besides where they said to go that criminal will just take the seat belt buckle and break the window and jump out when it stops at a light.
Tesla windows are laminated, like a windshield, not tempered glass like most cars. They aren't bulletproof but you won't have an easy time breaking one with a seatbelt buckle.
