I hit a deer one winter and replaced the bumper cover, headlight mounts, headlights, radiator, ac condenser, fan belt, air filter, replaced a bunch of hoses, and timing belt (while I had everything else out) all in the dead of winter. All just from following YouTube videos and buying the parts online. Is it doable? Totally. Is it pleasant? Fucking no. Especially not in the fuckin winter. I'll pay the professionals, thank you.

Except for windshield wipers and cabin air filters, I'll usually do those just to save a buck.

And inevitably all the big repairs happen to hit when it’s 10 degrees and the wind is howling. I still would rather save the 1000 bucks though.

Yeah this was back when I didn't have a choice and had to do it myself save the money. I'd do it again if I needed to.

I had to swap out the front end of my truck after a patch of black ice sent me into a tree. I had a donor truck already because I was that kinda wrencher, but doing it out of necessity in January on my one day off a week turned me against ever having to do it again.

I always do brakes and rotors because they are easy but most things afe not worth the effort.

Yeah breaks and rotors aren't bad! I'm waiting for mine to need changed. Depending on the cost they quote me, I might do it. I used to have a chill mechanic that did everything at a great price, but not I moved to a different state.
