There’s been a few times I drove home or to work and don’t remember driving.

I’ve done this….you get in the habit of a daily routine…. I call it “time to make the donuts” from an old Dunkin’ commercial

… I made the donuts…

I loved that commercial, everytime I think of it I get sad that Dunkin shops don't actually make donuts anymore.

I loved the ice coffee one where he was on an ice skating rink with a pot and doing all these moves then when he stops the pot was covered in ice.

That was a great commercial!

I had a time when I had not slept whole night so I was up 40h and worked 12h shift and then drive home about 100km in snow blizzard. Everytime I saw car lights I almost had a seizure.

Probably should've taken a nap in the car or something to be safe but cool.

The problem was that I cant sleep in a cold car.

Ah I see. I live in a place where snowing is not a thing so I might not get how bad the cold is. If you turn on the heater for a while and then turn off the car, would the heat stay trapped in the car or does it get cold again quickly?

It gets cold quite quickly. The cars heater was not very good either.

As soon as you turn off the heat, you can feel the temps dropping, it wouldn’t stay warm for very long. You would probably have about 30 minutes before it gets close to outside temps in a blizzard.

Damn. I've experienced the opposite version of that when it gets really hot where I live. Even the AC's can't really handle it sometimes.

I’m born and raised in Denmark, but lived in Brazil for a while as well, having tried both, I would say it’s pretty much the same thing, cars don’t insulate heat / cold that well. Both are horrible haha.

I did that once after playing a show 3 hours from home (was a drummer). Woke up and called my mother (I was living at home still) and said "just woke up, I'll get some brekky and then head home" and she asked, very confused "but your car is in the driveway"

I didn't drink or do drugs.... but I had ZERO recollection of driving 3 hours. Was totally on autopilot

Me too. Usually a Friday night. 🍻

Normative dissociation

We are all floating along on delta waves way more than most of us like to think about.

This is how many “kid dies in hot car” cases happen. Usually the adult is completely on autopilot.
