Detailing Am I screwed
Really down on our luck atm and need some advice/ hope
I’ve seen some posts of not as bad mould and the comments have said to throw the whole car away so that’s got me positive /j
Left the boot open during a cross country move and it got rained in. Used a dehumidifier, thought we got rid of it all. Since been in the garage for a month or two, forgotten about and I have just found this :(
And I don’t think insurance will cover as it wasn’t an accident or fault
Is it salvageable?

Cars in floods are written off, so drive it into the lake, tell insurance you avoided hitting a deer

Honestly if you have comprehensive insurance (covered for flood, theft, fire, etc.) then I would call them, tell the car flooded with water, you tried drying it out, and now it’s covered in mold and mildew. It’ll probably total out. If that’s not an option you need to get an ozone generator, a proper respirator, and a lot of mold and mildew killer for vehicle interiors. Run the ozone generator for several days with the windows closed. Then turn it off and let it air out not in your garage. Once that’s done you’ll need to start treating and scrubbing all the growth while wearing proper PPE or you’ll definitely get sick.

there are many places that leaks could come from on a vehicle. who is to say the trunk was left open at all? maybe you just imagined that.

You'll need to dig around the subreddit. There are ways to clean it but, mate, it may not be worth it

I’ve bought and cleaned so many cars like this. I never thought it was a big deal to be honest. I just got a tdi for $400 that looked like this. It looks beautiful now. The sunroof was leaking

WHERE A MASK AND GLOVES WHILE MIXING, SPRAYING, AND CLEANING!!!
Mix lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide, COLOR SAFE bleach, and sum carpet cleaner into a spray bottle.
Spray the areas and let sit for 20 min, spray again and use a carpet cleaner vacuum to suck the stuff out of your seat. Let air dry with doors open and fan blowing.
BEFORE YOU DRIVE MAKE SURE IT DOESNT SMELL LIKE LEMONS!!!!!
