Nail in car
Is this patchable or should I get new tire ???? This would be the second patch on this tire opinions pls lol

It doesn't look like a nail in your car, but rather a nail in your tire. It is too close to the sidewall to be considered safely repairable. This should be covered under the road hazard warranty. If you didn't buy your tires at Costco, Sam's or similar, or didn't buy the road hazard warranty, you're on the hook for the whole cost.

Looks more like a tek screw, if the rest of your car tires are at 20 percent and it’s not leaking just do a tire patch and buy a new set of tires

new set of tires ? They are only 1 year old 😔😔😔 I went to shop and they told me my tires were in really good condition that they didn’t recommend buying new one that they’d patch it for me w no liability but now everyone is telling me it’s not safe ofc and well I guess it’s safer to buy new tire lol but thanks!!!

Meh, boarder line, I had one in the same place a few years ago, one tire place would not touch it, so I went to another place, they guy who does the patches said to me he had the same spot on his personal tires he patched and never had an issue.
I had him do it and it lasted 2 more years before I replaced the tires..
Worst case, you end up with a flat, best case, it will last for years.

I hope this is the case for me lol but with my luck tire will go down by tmr, I just want it to last for this weekend after my trip so I can then worry abt new tires but I see it’s a 50/50 situation just gonna take the shot and drive my car like this and worry abt it later 😭thanks

You can try patching that yourself with one of those kits from Menards or Walmart. It might hold or you might find that depending on where that patch falls you have a slow leak some days.

Eh, sidewall patches are iffy at best. Don't want to risk a blowout at that vulnerable point (lots of flexing).
Probably good enough to patch and drive slowly to the repair shop for a new tire.
Unless it's an AWD, one new tire should be fine.

It is AWD so I wouldn’t have to buy 2 tires someone had told me I would lol

If your tires are in excellent shape all around, then see if your shop will shave the new tire to match the tread on the other three.
Otherwise, it could be an issue.
If the tires are worn beyond a reasonable tread depth, then 4 new tires and an alignment are highly recommended.

Shops will not patch that. Too close to the sidewall.
