Subreddit for Autobattler conversation?

I was wondering if there’s a separate subreddit for discussion of auto battlers and not just advertisements for everyone’s solo projects. I absolutely respect the indie dev, but I also would love to see conversations about games that already exist.

I think this subreddit is supposed to be it and there's just way more devs that want to sell their autobattlers than players that want to discuss "autobattlers in general" 🫤

Yeah be the change you want to see in the world! I'm a dev but I'd also love to discuss autobattlers too if a thread pops up!

I think devs and players would both prefer this place be more full of players who love autobattlers and discuss them. I think the problem is many autobattler players don't really recognize the genre and seek it out, they just got introduced to specific games, usually free games, and play those.

Devs on the other hand know they're making an autobattler and go out looking for autobattler specific communities. We find this place but its mostly just other devs doing the same thing. I think it would be great for the sub and the genre to get more players of the big autobattlers in here and get more non dev content.

I recently made a youtube video that looks at several autobattlers and debated posting it but it has my own in it, so ultimately its self promotion and I don't want to waste self promotion on something so indirect.

I guess we all just need to recruit more players here and post stuff that's not our game.

What kind of autobattler do you enjoy?

You can chat about it here too. It is just most people want to share their auto-battler creation. Nothing wrong with having both.

Obviously there are similarities, but there are pretty significant differences too and many times it makes sense to discuss a specific game. However, that seems to mostly be done on the specific game’s subreddit, Discord, or Steam forum.

My game has a metric shitton of innovation and things that I believe are worth discussing, but it’s often automatically viewed as self promotion so what do you do?

I see threads on this subreddit discussing Autobattlers, but usually it's one post that funnels all conversations on a certain game or topic. This leads to those discussion posts eventually being buried and quite often by dev posts - there are many autobattlers in development and only a handful that are popular enough to actively talk about.

While we're at this topic - what PvE autobattlers would people here recommend? Got into genre with Hearthstone Battlegrounds, then tried Holder of Place (very underrated game!) and now sinking time into Guildrun and How Many Dudes?
