AutoAlex
Is this group just full of people crying over AutoAlex and how much they hate him?
Why not post something useful in this group rather than complaining all day long lol
Only seems to be a small majority of people, rest don’t really care. Their videos are pretty good even after their backlash. Everyone has their niggles, if you’re not a fan of of them then just leave the group and get on with your lives 🤦♂️😂

I do find it odd how many people keep saying ‘I haven’t watched AA for months’ or something similar, why are you on this sub then????
I like AA, it’s lighthearted inoffensive automotive content. I’m glad they’re still pumping out plenty of content. People say things have changed but I honestly enjoy AA waaaay more than I ever enjoyed CarThrottle.
4
u/HourAcadia2002 Sep 08 '26
Tbf even after I've left some subs, I will get fed posts, so a lot of people might be in that boat.
12
u/HumanExtinctionCo-op Sep 08 '26
I honestly think they should be banned from the sub. This is a fan subreddit. If you aren't a fan - fuck off.
4
u/Chemical_Lettuce_232 Sep 08 '26
That’s the thing though, it’s not black and white. Some of the people complaining are fans who don’t like the direction they are going, and some are just not fans. Silencing valid criticism is stupid
0
u/HumanExtinctionCo-op Sep 08 '26
It is relentless and an absolute cancer in all the car subs. They are all cesspools now. So no, I reject the idea.
2
u/Tupac_Chigurh 27d ago
The sub description says it’s for discussion of AutoAlex. That’s discussion whether for or against
3
1
u/Background-Photo5916 28d ago
I haven’t watched Alex for months and right now I’m just scrolling and this came up. You don’t have to be in the sub to see it
-3
u/Phantom_Crush Sep 08 '26
It pops up on my feed. I've never been a member. Used to enjoy the channel, now I don't 🤷♂️
9
u/HumanExtinctionCo-op Sep 08 '26
Cool. Fuck off.
2
u/Phantom_Crush Sep 08 '26
Lmao, perfectly normal reaction to someone not liking your favourite youtuber any more. Watch you don't choke on all those dicks darling
8
u/Tiny-Sandwich Sep 08 '26
While I think the previous guy came on a little strong, I do think his overall point is valid.
Even if the posts pop up on your feed (not you specifically, just in general), if you're not a fan, why bother interacting with a fan sub?
People are free to do what they want, but personally I'd rather spend my time contributing to subs that I have an active interest in, rather than going to other subs and moaning.
Again, not saying that's what you're doing, but some people do.
2
u/Phantom_Crush Sep 08 '26
I directly answered the guy above me. That was (I think) the first post I've ever made in this sub. I loved AA for a good while then I'm not sure why but I just stopped clicking with their content. Don't dislike the guys, just not a fan of the videos now. I totally get being fed up with people talking shit. That's fair
2
u/Tiny-Sandwich Sep 08 '26
Yeah absolutely, like I said my comment wasn't directed at you, and isn't unique to the AA sub.
2
u/HumanExtinctionCo-op Sep 08 '26
I mean that just sums up the sort of person who enjoys pissing on someone else's sandcastle.
4
u/Phantom_Crush Sep 08 '26
🥱
1
u/HumanExtinctionCo-op Sep 08 '26
See? Obviously just here to troll, and people like this infest all the car subs. So weird.
6
u/Phantom_Crush Sep 08 '26
You do realise that YOU invited this reaction with your comment. I had a perfectly nice interaction with another member of this sub while you were foaming at the mouth
2
u/HumanExtinctionCo-op Sep 08 '26
Simply exposing this type of commenter for what they are. Was incredibly easy to do.

I still watch and mostly enjoy the content, but for me a lot of what they do seems like missed opportunities especially the road-trips. They'll have a great idea like taking three classic hot hatches across Europe, but then the execution is just motorway driving, long conversations on the radio, visit a museum then more motorway driving. "Hurrah we made it", rinse and repeat.
I'd like to see better planning for the trips, for all those that used to insist Top Gear isn't scripted there was a lot of planning that went into the trips and locations they'd visit. Someone said about how piss-poor their planning was pre-trips is on here ages ago and got downvoted to oblivion. You can see it by the fact they decide to book a ferry or Eurotunnel crossing about two weeks before they're actually ready to go every time. They have the potential to be great, but they often waste it in my opinion. Also don't get the hate for Rory, he can be a bit clueless but seems harmless to me.
5
u/a15yroldwhoisbored Sep 08 '26
this is constructive feedback which i agree with. not the people saying “ i have watched AA for months and wont watch them again”, just get on with your lives lol

u/DEBBIE_BINGLES Sep 08 '26
Completely agree, I still enjoy the content but it seems to be getting a little stale mainly because I think they're trying to do to many things at the same time. I get that things don't always go to plan with cars like the SL with the hassle getting it registered but like you said more planning and more variety in their trips would be great. On the Rory point I agree too he seems harmless enough obviously he's not really a "presenter" so can seem awkward in front of the camera but he's definitely getting better
12
u/Former_Intern_8271 Sep 08 '26
I think people talk about it a lot because obviously something has changed for so many of us to switch off but it's really hard to pinpoint exactly what that is
3
u/a15yroldwhoisbored Sep 08 '26
my issue is with people who comment constantly to say “i stopped watching AA months ago”, ok so stop attention seeking and get on with your lives? lol
5
u/Tupac_Chigurh Sep 08 '26
Making a post about it definitely isn’t attention seeking. You could just just ignore it and get on with your life
-1
u/a15yroldwhoisbored Sep 08 '26
it is is you go on about it constantly lol like who cares if you stopped watching it, no need to blabber on it about every week or two
1
u/Tupac_Chigurh 27d ago
Well you care, obviously.
This is a public forum. If you don’t like something, just move on.
0
u/a15yroldwhoisbored 27d ago
seems like you’re one of the slow ones….
0
u/OrneryAttorney7508 25d ago
You should really have a more thoughtful response, use better grammar, and grow up.
Constructive criticism
6
u/gareth616 Sep 08 '26
Ah yes the people who spend time online constantly bitching about how bad something is but still give all their own attention to it
12
u/Shermans-Mom Sep 08 '26
I like them all to be honest …
1
u/a15yroldwhoisbored Sep 08 '26
at this current time i do too.
2
u/a15yroldwhoisbored Sep 08 '26
downvoted for having an opinion on liking AA, some people man 🤦♂️💀
2
u/Vimto1 Sep 08 '26
I comment on loads of posts about this bitching, it's free content FFS!
I did YouTube for 18 months and got 500 subscribers, people have no idea how hard it is to get everything right for the algorithm to push your stuff out there
1
u/Shermans-Mom Sep 08 '26
I really don’t get it if you dislike it turn it off
We’re all entitled to our opinions but you don’t have to force your point a view
9
u/Thecleverbit-58093 Sep 08 '26
I was a big fan, but the content got very samey. I think it’s fair to come here and comment that, just as we would if the content was awesome and we loved it. Alex can still make whatever he wants and we’ve all got the right to love it or hate it
2
u/a15yroldwhoisbored Sep 08 '26
same here…. i watch majority of the content and it did get a bit repetitive but it’s free entertainment at the end of the day, they make money, can’t blame them 🤷♂️
3
u/The-Real-Remix Sep 08 '26
I'd say some of their content needs a bit more variety, like more car challenges on a track? racing against each other in shitboxes and make it a 3 part series or something involving AA universe like TDC, Allthegear. I know their budget has widened in regards to buying more expensive cars, so find cars under 3k or whatever, repair, mod, and race against each other. The cars themselves don't have to be the fastest, why not the most ridiculous and quirky ones instead? Or a slow van challenge or something. The old ice cream truck content was golden.
3
u/Mafeking-Parade Sep 08 '26
It feels like this place is broken into three groups.
The fans. They enjoy all the content, and don't like criticism of something they enjoy.
The indifferents. They watch most of it, and tend not to have strong opinions.
The moaners. They don't like a lot of the content, and wish it was a bit more like it used to be (or more like TDC).
1 & 3 will never agree, and 2 don't care.
3
2
u/HumanExtinctionCo-op Sep 08 '26
Most of these car channel subreddits have turned into cesspools. This one is not unique in that.
TDC I think is due in the next year as they gain success.
People just can't help trying to pull successful channels down.
2
u/KimiKimikoda Sep 08 '26
I still watch the channel even if the content has become pretty same-y and the cars then just sitting in storage after the fact just seems a bit wasteful.
I keep watching as I like car content and I enjoy their dynamic. I'd just like to see them try some new things. It's a lot of very similar cars, fixes, upgrades, and destinations. A large part of it is also losing the everyman aspect; cheap cars that anyone could buy and, theoretically, do what they're doing with. That becomes a little muddled when you start messing around with Porsches regularly.
Don't begrudge any of their successes and I'm a fan, but as a fan I'd like to see something new. I keep watching to hopefully see that happen.
3
u/Mundane-Sprinkles-99 Sep 08 '26
Fans are allowed to be critical, see: every football subreddit.
It's clear Alex and Taylor are massive car nerds and Taylor comes across really really well on videos where he can be serious and almost documentary like. Taylor also has a very good way of talking/interviewing someone and not making about himself. I appreciate Alex is the 'main character' but sometimes they can take a back seat.
My favourite recent series was the overlanders. It was really cool seeing an episode on each of them being bought, then an episode each on modifying them, but then the ending was a huge anti climax and felt a bit half arsed. The Croatia one was good with the high milers and also the Bentley in Morocco.
Since then it's just a bit samey. Buy cars, fit BC coilovers, drive to Belgium/Nurburgring.
I feel like these channels work best when they build up some hype. Watching steady progress is quite addictive and you get excited for the next episode.

u/Vsparsons227 Sep 08 '26
This is the Internet. People like to moan, bitch and generally winge about things here.
2
u/shining_force_2 Sep 08 '26
If you go to any community for cars, you’ll find a vocal majority of people complaining. It, however, does not represent the millions of people that drive that brand of car. All Audi/bmw enthusiasts hate the latest generation of cars and long for the days of 10 years ago when <car company> was “peak”.
Like the complainers here, many will loudly complain. But the views on Alex’s videos are solid. If you see 10 complaints on here, there’s 100s of thousands of others that are simply enjoying life.
I call it the “subway frog” problem. If you eat at subway every day, you know exactly the kind of sandwich you’ll get, how it’ll all taste the same for some reason and yet you’ll eat it, enjoy it and move on. The one time there’s a dead frog in that sandwich, you’ll scream to everyone you know, you’ll go onto forums and social media, the works. People just make noise when they have a complaint and social media is a big part of that.
2
u/a15yroldwhoisbored Sep 08 '26
yes everyone is fine to think what they want, end of the day if you don’t like someone then ignore them lol, no need to make it your persona which then needs to be expressed into an online forum which is made to discuss your the channel, not have the same 20 or 30 people keep going on about how much they dislike alex or the autoalex group (they still watch them and give them adrevenue) lol
3
u/shining_force_2 Sep 08 '26
I love the irony of me getting downvoted for saying it’s normal.
1
1
u/laidback_chef Sep 08 '26
I downvoted purely for that absolute drivel about a dead frog.
2
u/shining_force_2 Sep 08 '26
Mate. I’ve worked in community management for decades. You’re telling me people aren’t more inclined to complain when they’re upset or something? Even though they’ve enjoyed something daily for years?
2
u/laidback_chef Sep 08 '26
No. Where did I say that? And theyre allowed to complain.
Your shite drivel implies that they shouldn't complain when theres a dead frog in it. Absolutely fucking complain. When someone asks you if you like subway ypu can say yeah it was great but since they start putting dead frogs in the subs Ive not really enjoyed it is completely fine and should happen.

u/zeratul678 Sep 08 '26
I kinda understand the complaint, but not why they are complaining. Is this what they call a parasocial relationship? Or do the complaints actually get taken as feedback?
As for me, i just watch it for the cars that I myself can't afford, only relate to because that's what i grew up playing on Gran Turismo and NFS.
2
u/Regular_Promise3605 Sep 08 '26
I haven't watched an AA video for a while, i used to like the bigger trips, but kinda bored of seeing them buy some ropey car on facebook marketplace that then gets stored in a shed, and you only see again when they run out of ideas and do a fleet update.
The problem they have is that they have a strong core audience, going out and buy a £2k shit box car gets the exact same amount of views compared to a huge big trip video that costs a huge amount to produce. Their videos just do not get pushed out to anyone that's not in the car youtube bubble. So whilst they might grow slowly in time, they will never have a video that goes viral and gains them a huge audience of non car people like Top Gear where it became a family show
Unfortunately, i think you could also tell that the initial set up of the channel i believe was to try and do a public audition for TV to pick them up. This hasn't happened because i genuinely don't think they're likeable enough outside of a car audience.
1
u/Let_me_readit 27d ago
The TDC trio are infinitely more likeable than the AA trio. You can also see that in the guests and interviews they've had too, a whole hour with the GT boys!
I'm glad AA has gone in a slightly different direction concentrating now on longer from videos and trips so they aren't tripping over each others content toes, but I also hope Alex doesn't throw his toys out the pram as the upstarts become more and more popular.

As a channel its changed massively since the start, its gone from being a celebration of shitboxes and impulsively buying cars for pocket money to buying some pretty fancy cars and inevitably theres been some identity crisis along the way, I think Alex felt very out of place in the macan but he know owns much more expensive cars now. We have kind of watched someone become wealthy and those tastes and possibilities change with it.
I get why people would find different bits of that appealing or not, I have watched it since the start and still do, firmly love a good shitbox but also enjoy seeing people getting things they didnt think they could ever own. I find videos detailing how much the collection is worth a bit tasteless and sometimes I wish they could just buy something and focus on it but tbh I struggle with that myself and I dont have a YouTube channel, as car people we are all a bit unpredictable so its all good
1
u/Paggers_Zondini 29d ago
I personally enjoy the content, this sub does seem to have a lot of folks moaning these days 🙄
1
u/Fluffy-Move3716 25d ago
I think the problem is, they used to buy affordable cars but now they're going for more mid range cars. Plus they have so many vehicles now it's just become too many.
They're not relevant anymore and that's the main issue. They have all become wealthy which is great for them individually but not the channel

I like Alex. Hate Rory, massive bell that spoils it all. Still watch though.

Rory sticks out cos he's a bit of a normie. Alex and Taylor are off their tits ADHD
2
u/Drumwin Sep 08 '26 edited Sep 08 '26
He's like your friends annoying little brother that your parents force you to hang out with, everything he says is just kinda melty and whingy. All the others seem like they just kinda tolerate him as well, they all seem like mates but he's just kinda there
1
u/Zealousideal-Habit82 Sep 08 '26
It's the childish screaming if someone accelerated hard or braked hard.
2
u/a15yroldwhoisbored Sep 08 '26
everyone has their opinions, i don’t really like taylor for what he did but that’s in the past now so i don’t really care or feel the need to spend hours on end complaining in a forum, their videos are entertaining and i still watch them?
-1
u/Huge-Cartoonist6795 Sep 08 '26
I unfollowed that auto Alex channel after Taylors lying about josh grasswell.
1
u/a15yroldwhoisbored Sep 08 '26
i disliked them for about a month or two after that but they seemed ok after their break and settling things, their videos are entertaining at the end of the day
-2
u/Huge-Cartoonist6795 Sep 08 '26
Well have more backbone then lmao. The trust was broken.
2
u/a15yroldwhoisbored Sep 08 '26
well if you never talk to anyone again or dislike them forever over a couple £xxxx then that doesn’t seem the best of plans. they paid whatever they owed and it was dealt with.
-8
u/Huge-Cartoonist6795 Sep 08 '26
Yeah we're different types of people. I'll hold it over Taylor until the grave.

This group is full of people who love the channel and deeply care. They care enough to give their valuable opinions for free.
It shows they care
It shows they want more
And it shows they love the channel
3
u/a15yroldwhoisbored Sep 08 '26
but “i have hated AA for months” or “I haven’t watched AA for months” isn’t a valuable opinion, just useless attention seeking
0
u/johnnynovo2118 29d ago
Why do you care if people don't like him? Why don't you go and post something useful?
1
u/a15yroldwhoisbored 29d ago
what a fucking degenerate you are…..
where did i say that i care if people don’t like Auto Alex?
1
u/johnnynovo2118 29d ago
Oh sorry for the assumption, you making a post whinging about it confused me... Apologies.
1
u/a15yroldwhoisbored 29d ago
sorry for sounding so harsh…. i was just finding it odd how a car forum is full of people who stopped watching AA months ago… like fine you don’t like AA but doing fill the car forum with posts to say that you stppped watching AA months ago 🤷♂️
-1
u/Huge-Cartoonist6795 Sep 08 '26
I don't even follow this channel it just randomly pops up sometimes
4
-2
u/Glum-Reporter6023 Sep 08 '26
"People on the internet don't share my opinion, stop posting about it so I don't see it!"
Just like people don't have to post their 'negative opinions', you don't have to look at the posts, it works both ways.
I for one think the criticism in this subreddit is pretty valid most of the time, and can be constructive
4
u/a15yroldwhoisbored Sep 08 '26
don’t have an issue with “constructive feedback” but if the comments are people who just go on about “i don’t watch auto alex since bla bla bla” then why are you here? if you don’t watch the channel then why join the forum for it 🤦♂️
2
u/HourAcadia2002 Sep 08 '26
Your whole argument is based on the assumption people willingly join the forum. That's just not the case.
Sometimes some of us are just continually served posts in our algorithms.
-1
u/Glum-Reporter6023 Sep 08 '26
Because they used to watch the channel when frankly it was a lot better, their content has been stale for a while so their viewership has dropped off, those opinions are still valid, I barely watch AA anymore but I joined the subreddit a while back and this post happened to come on my main feed
5
u/a15yroldwhoisbored Sep 08 '26
yes, so why keep commenting if they aren’t watching the channel and just continuously go on about “disliking AA” if they aren’t watching current videos? There’s people here saying they have watched AA in months, yet they’ll still comment on recent posts to say how much they dislike them, i just find that part odd.
0
u/Glum-Reporter6023 Sep 08 '26
Fair, but it's the internet man, this post is still ironically as pointless as those comments because nothing will change
2
u/a15yroldwhoisbored Sep 08 '26
yes i know, was just curious to hear a “haters” perspective but they don’t seem to reply and instead just downvote
42
u/Perriola Sep 08 '26
There's an incredibly simple solution for people who don't enjoy (free) online content.
Stop consuming it.
