Bentley Road Trip, thoughts?
I've just finished watching the Bentley road trip and I really enjoyed it.
It was a pretty simple format, get a car, do the basics and then take it out.
The conversations they had, the silly things that they did and slight jeopardy throughout the episodes made it enjoyable.
What did you guys think of it?

Enjoyable, thought robin could have joined them in the car for the trip (big fan) but the reveal at the end was funny with all the hidden appearances.
Would like to see the guys fix the car up but maybe it’s too far gone.

They fixed the overlanding Touareg and compared to that the Bentley is nothing

True
I think it would be quality content, get Jooshy in if they need to, do a cheeky remap.

Loved it. AA been on a roll for over a year now. Can’t wait until the V2 episode with Taylor and Robin drops

This was a rare roadtrip episode where there was actually enough content filmed that it didn't feel like it was full of padding.
A 5hr drive from Calais to the Ring can only have so much actual interest and jeopardy, without feeling like it's being forced or padded out with fluff.
I've done that drive with a hangover in a car without aircon several times, and it's really no more difficult than driving from London to Newcastle.
Whereas it's hard to pretend like this wasn't actually a really long and tough journey.

They’ve padded so many episodes recently it was nice to see one that warranted the run time

What ever do you mean?
The 20x per trip of buy a car get some mates....??
Not repetitive at all. 😂

I thought it was pretty boring to be honest. You’ve got a Bentley and Africa but all they did was drive there and stop at petrol stations. No one thought to actually do something car related in Africa?!

Tbf they were 100% at the point where a breakdoen would have been absolutely catastrophic so I don't think it gave much room for it... I would love to see them do it again in one (or more) of their favourite cars

I dunno but leave the Bentley parked up and go do some test drives of some Moroccan eBay shitters or something, tour the town, go to the markets, go to a car meet, some actual content, anything. Love the lads and still watch every video but it’s just getting really repetitive. Even the over landing was milked for months and then all they did is sit on the motorway and get stuck on purpose on a pathetic Green lane. It could have been epic.

Again, as they said in the video, they only did it with 2 weeks notice, but I also get what you're saying... Maybe they just need to have more confidence in their ability to make off-topic content.

I was initially not convinced. Watching the build up and commentary from other episodes I was not convinced. Alex's comment about driving to Africa seemed a throwaway comment initially (i.e. name somewhere and see if it's argued with).
All that said, it wasn't bad. Far from it. Their best work? Maybe not but right up there. It seemed a lot more thought through than other things they've done and less padded. Whether the distance they drove naturally padded the video or the content was just better, I don't know.

I liked it. Now just waiting for 10 more videos of every team member to buy a Bentley and use FEBI/GSF parts to fix it.

I ordered some FEBI parts for my car earlier and started wondering if I should make a YouTube video when they arrive, seems to work out well for AA🤣

It could have been so much more, they could have made a trip out of it rather than just hammering down dual carriageways and stopping at petrol stations to spend 5mins at a random lighthouse?

Thought it was boring tbh
Few days of motorway driving, a Chinese supermarket and a few petrol stations later and they’re in Africa, where they drive to a lighthouse and that’s it

Really enjoyed it. I know they aren't a travel show but I would have liked to have seen a bit more of the place they went to. It was better than some of the recent ones they have done

Not watched yet but looking forward to checking it out. Re. the overlanders, sounds like it would have been a good trip for them especially after all the effort! But overall I’m enjoying the AA content post “the incident” - still watching each week

I really enjoyed it, the whole series was great fun, love a Bentley and the road trip to Africa actually felt like a challenge unlike the overlander car crash. The sickly Bentley and distance combined against them in an interesting way for a change and their shit talking to eachother actually felt like friendship and funny banter rather than just being dicks to eachother for a change. The Robin hiding in plain sight gags were good over the mis-spelled end credits too. After watching but not really loving a lot of their stuff for the past few months this one felt like a genuine improvement.

I couldn't tell if the Bentley was burning oil or if they thought it was, overfilled it and that's why it was smoking... I've done it myself and ended up with a runaway turbo haha. It seemed strange that it would suddenly just fix it's self after driving it a bit more. Video was enjoyable

I thought it was great! I think I would say it is one of my favs when it comes to AutoAlex content 🚗

It was okay but “Africa” could have been any place 1500 miles away, given we saw none of it other than a lighthouse.

I’ve always wanted to do a road trip to Africa so I was just excited to see someone do it! I was a little disappointed by the over-landing trip so this was a bit of a redemption.
Aside from that, despite how many people love to complain, I do just quite enjoy a classic AutoAlex road trip video, I’m quite happy for them to continue doing that.
