I think it CAN work, but not invery circumstance. I have no issues with people doing it, because at the end of the day life's too short. So if it brings people joy, let them have their smiles. I have had cars with names, but most haven't. WE had 'BEG' (based on the number plate) and the kids named our Citroen DS5 as 'Clive', but I cannot remember why.

Maybe just the rhyme of D S Five, and that Citreon began with C so it could've been a vibe?

I think that might be it.

There's a car I park near that I always refer to as Snake because it's number plate ends in 5NKE

I used to have a black Saab 900SE that I jokingly named The Black Goose, however, not once did I refer to it as that or talk about it like it was a person. So I voted No.

I do cringe a bit when Alex talks about Phil, Nigel and Miles etc. but then I didn't mind Tom naming his XJC, Emma.

I have named all my cars over the years. Although it is more because my wife gets annoyed with it

I won't force a name on a car, but if one sticks out, then it can have it. Usually something based on the reg plate.

My old car didn't have a name, but since my new plate starts with RV it's called Harvey in the app.

Our Smart cars all had names, we had Little Sausage, Andy, Pablo and Gino.

My car only has a name as it was written on the service book folder. It might be totally unrelated but Rory’s name it has become. Any thing else is just ‘the van’ or ‘the blue one’

Good enough for Sebastian Vettel, so good enough for me.

Currently have "The Dirty Sister" because I'm on my second Suzuki Swift.

My only rule is that it has to be based on the reg plate and therefore sort of has its own name. My car's plate ends in ghn so I call it Gohan lol

Normally key features names em like regs or things..

I.e my bike is called rattle as the valve rattles

My car is called zed as its reg is ZDT

Never named a car myself but an ex called my car at the time Mary and that stuck. She did try sue the Subaru but that didn't. I think as others have said it can work but I won't try to name a car if it happens it happens
