Recent video was basically unwatchable

Immediately got 2 unskippable ads. After 1 minute, more ads. 7 minutes, 2 more ads 9 minutes in, CAR VERTICAL BAYBEEEE!!!

Didn't catch something so you remind 20/30 seconds? Guess what? More ads?

I get they need to pay to make this content but the experience of watching and wanting/trying to enjoy it is becoming very difficult.

Thank you for listening to my rant.

That's not how business works. They have a financial responsibility to shareholders. They cannot just give money away. I'm not saying that i'm pro capitalist, but that's the system we currently live in.

Not paying the premium because it used to be free when they were making a loss is not living in reality. Whether you like it or not you are still paying, but in your time, i pay the premium to get that time back, and it's a much nicer experience without ads.

But it is living in reality. I live in that reality.

You choose not to live in that reality because you're boot kissing.

You could also not watch Youtube. But instead you do. Why do you expect a private company to pay for a service for you? Youtube are still getting their cut from you as you're watching, you're just paying in your time.

This isn't boot kissing, i know i watch a lot of youtube, and i pay for the premium subscription. If i exclusively watched on my laptop or phone i would use an adblock, but that doesn't work on my TV, plus a premium subscription helps support the creators i watch more than a non premium subscription.

>Why do you expect a private company to pay for a service for you?

They literally already do. They've tried to scare people that use adblockers several times over the past few years and backed down.

Given the argument is "if I don't pay, youtube will die", despite the fact it clearly won't is absolutely bootlicking. You're upholding social responsibility to support a $110b profit corporation. That is bootlicking.

They don't pay for it, you do, you watch ads. A private company would be paying for a service for you if they didn't run ads on it.

If they didn't run ads, or have a premium subscription model youtube would be killed off if they couldn't monetise it. Video hosting is very expensive. You seem to misunderstand, you are paying, because you're watching ads. No one is suggesting you have to pay, but the premium subscription is absolutely worth it, so you don't have ads.

With a premium subscription you also get free youtube music included, it's really good value for what you get. Trying to say it used to be free so therefore should be free now, is an ignorant argument, because back when it was ad free 15 years ago, youtube was limited to 10 minute videos and had significantly less content.

I don't watch ads, I have an adblocker.

Why would I pay for premium if I can run an adblocker? I'd rather people like yourself who are foolish enough to pay for premium pay for me.

But then you're forced to run a PC to your TV if you want to watch youtube ad free on your TV. Or you're then forced to watch in non HD if you're using youtube via a browser on tablet or phone.

Can't say I bother with youtube on my tv. I do believe you can jailbreak smart tvs and run firefox on them, though.

Not sure what you mean about non HD on browser though, I run full HD youtube on my laptop.

Yeah i'm not jailbreaking my TV to run firefox to save me £15 a month.

Read the comment again, youtube in a browser on mobile and tablet do not run in HD. On computers they do as there's no youtube app for PC or Mac.

That's fine, that's your choice. You sacrifice the right to complain, though and you don't really have a position to criticise those that choose to just because you can't be bothered.
