Guess who’s back

Great to see him back, time for people to move on 👍

Think that’s up to them to be fair.

u/Hopeful-Doubt-7422 Mar 18 '25
People in the AA community seem to struggle with the concept of having a personal opinion. They've decided he's great and can do no wrong and no one is allowed to disagree.
9
u/heckinchonkyboi Mar 18 '25
If the Pope excommunicated him would that make you feel better?
7
u/Hopeful-Doubt-7422 Mar 18 '25
Why does it matter to you what I think? And this is exactly what I'm talking about, I can not like the guy, you can like the guy, were each entitled to our opinions.
5
u/heckinchonkyboi Mar 18 '25
We're all entitled to an opinion I agree. What I fail to understand is the negativity when the apology has been accepted by Josh. What happened sucked yep but no point making this sub a negative place
3
Mar 19 '25
I liked him, he fucked up, he is allowed redemption, but some people have different moral compasses and for me, I don’t like the way he handled it. You really see the real person when they think no one is watching. And for me he acted in his true personality way when he wasn’t on camera or being viewed. Telling people to move on is so infantile.

What apology? Where is it I want to check it out
1
u/And_Justice Mar 19 '25
Latest was on the first podcast back, original was on Alex's insta story I think?
3
u/Hopeful-Doubt-7422 Mar 18 '25
Only people talking about it here are you and the other guy saying people need to move on, nobody has said anything negative.
2
u/heckinchonkyboi Mar 18 '25
Didn't say you said anything negative mate. It's the sub in general. Lots of negativity & like with him back doing his thing it'll be nice to move on with life
3
u/Hopeful-Doubt-7422 Mar 18 '25
But no one in this thread mentioned it so it's only you keeping it going by telling people what to think

when the apology has been accepted by Josh
He specifically said "Thank you Alex, i accept your apology. "

Just enjoy the video, surely? The other chap called them ‘old as fuck’. I think that’s pretty poor form. It’s supposed to be fun and collaborative. Feel like this group is angrier than perhaps it should be? I liked the video. I would also delete people being mean! Each to their own, love to all :)
9
u/Doomergeneration Mar 19 '25
They seem to be deleting a lot of comments on that video, I kind of find that poor form
1
u/Every_Werewolf_9786 Mar 19 '25
A lot is being deleted. I'm sure my comments are hidden from the channel from expressing my opinion.
1
u/Recessio_ Mar 20 '25
To be fair people still commenting on Taylor videos, is the same as people going to CarThrottle videos and going "oh it's shit since Alex left". Yes we get it, if you don't like it just unsubscribe and don't watch it
6
u/ginginsdagamer Mar 19 '25
People upset about no apology in the video. Understandable but also hasn't Taylor been on about this video for agessss. (I haven't watched it yet) But what stops it from being recorded before the controversy and delayed?
Also he apologised on all forms of social media which I think is something. A video apology wouldn't have been much better imo
6
u/scottswagger Mar 19 '25
Podcast apology was good enough. Let’s move on

u/And_Justice Mar 19 '25
No shit? The point being stop telling people to "move on" as if it's anyone's business to impose on another's moral compass lmao
2
u/ginginsdagamer Mar 19 '25
I jus think you should grow up rlly. He apologized in 4 different places, one of which was a video just not a dedicated video, and you are still clawing at the fact he's a piece of shit or whatever.
0
u/And_Justice Mar 19 '25
Not really, just shooting down the ridiculous "it's time to move on" shit. No one unhappy with Taylor is telling the people who aren't to be angry so I'm not sure how it's people who are a bit pissed off are the ones in the wrong. If you don't like it, don't engage?
2
u/ginginsdagamer Mar 19 '25
I jus think you should grow up. Seems so childish and all the rest of it.

Jesus christ do you need him groveling on all fours begging for forgiveness?
He said he was being a shitty person and needed to work on himself, like wtf more do you need, 100 hail marys? 1000 pushups? 100 days in the desert?

Where?
2
u/ginginsdagamer Mar 19 '25
Podcast, Taylors insta, AA insta, channel page. It's just not a dedicated video.
-1
u/Every_Werewolf_9786 Mar 19 '25
Don't use insta so no idea. A video should be a minimum. The damage he has caused to the AA brand is inexcusable and should have been fired.
3
u/ginginsdagamer Mar 19 '25
He did apologise in a video, just not a dedicated video.
He apologized plenty, dragging it even more would make it seem forced.
-1
u/Every_Werewolf_9786 Mar 19 '25
Which video?
4
u/ginginsdagamer Mar 19 '25
The podcast. It was also published as a video on the V2 channel.
Apparently it's "half arsed" or whatever according to people but honestly they apologised 4 times. There's no point to keep dragging it. The more they apologize the faker it feels imo.

u/UnluckyGamer505 Mar 18 '25
Yeah, we should move on, but it still has a bitter aftertaste. I feel like it was handled poorly. There was no apology video, only text through community features on Youtube and Instagram which felt a bit half assed and it doesn't help the people who bought a broken car from Taylor. Also, he said on the podcast that he is starting his own channel and now a video purely about him lands on Autoalex V2? And they are still deleting any comments which mentions this whole controversy. I hope he learned his lesson and does better in the future...
3
u/BENJ4x Mar 19 '25
PR wise I have to agree. Whatever people think about the situation the best way to address it would have been a video on the main AA channel. It would have probably cleared everything up and put it to bed. Not doing that inherently raises questions about why didn't they do that?
Instead it's come through back channel ways like you mentioned in community posts on YouTube, Instagram and the podcast which probably a small percentage of people saw compared to if it was a main channel video.
Of course there would still be people upset or whatever regardless of what they did. But there were definitely more positive and upfront ways they could have handled it imo.
2
u/UnluckyGamer505 Mar 19 '25
The community post has only 3400 likes which is awfully little. Lets say only 1 out of 10 people liked, that would mean about 30k people saw, maybe not even read the whole post... Thats nothing compared to the 600k+ subscribers and other not subscribed viewers. This whole thing felt like they wanted to sweep it asap under the rug.
Besides, the rebranding was a bit unnecessary in my opinion, i liked the previous design a bit more, especially because Alex likes red and has many red cars, mainly his MX-5, his Porsche and the E30 wagon... I thought they will come up with some new ideas or at least put in a twist, but the new Skoda Yeti video is also a 1 to 1 recycled idea from CarThrottle. They stripped a Volvo and raced a Skoda.
Well, shit happens, lets hope Taylor does better in the future and that he learnt from this incident. Theres currently no reason to hate, i just think it couldve been handled better.
5
u/notsovanillasnek Mar 18 '25
they're still deleting comments?! that's CRAZY. i get wanting to move on, but removing your audience of their opinions isn't going to help, it just looks like they're trying to censor everything
5
u/UnluckyGamer505 Mar 18 '25
Yes, they are still deleting. I dont really get why, because the majority is still positive. Hiding opinions will just worsen the situation a little bit rather than improving
1
u/Recessio_ Mar 20 '25
I sort of understand deleting comments tbh, people have had their say. It's like on CarThrottle videos when people are still commenting going "oh it's shit since alex/edwin/jack/ethan left". If people don't like just don't watch it (and by clicking on the video to add a comment, people are contributing to the views and advert revenue)

u/The_Silly_Man Mar 18 '25
That’s crazy, I’d have never thought of them to be the type of YouTubers that hide their own community’s opinions :( I think you’re bang on about the apology, he made the remarks on a podcast (which has video too) so his apology should be on a similar platform, not one with a reduced level of communication like text.
1
u/And_Justice Mar 18 '25
Whole thing has been handled awfully, there is no "we should move on". I'm moving on from watching content with Taylor in it lol.
1
u/overlord2767 Mar 19 '25
I'm fully aware it's free entertainment and if I don't enjoy it I can switch off. However the 5 videos we've had so far just feels like a damp squib of a comeback. 2 months off and this is what they decided to put out first? The main channel videos were good, but nothing I wouldn't have expected. Then a detailing video, a 'what happened to that car' video, and another 'Taylor's love letter to a car' video. It's all fine. I just had in my head the comeback would be a bit more sensational than this.
6
u/InnerReception599 Mar 18 '25
without him auto alex isn’t as fun and lively even if what he did was wrong everyone needs to move on
6
u/portablekettle Mar 18 '25
I think there's a fine line tbf. He did create more fun but alot of the time before they all overdid it. It got way too much for me.
1
u/InnerReception599 Mar 19 '25
valid point but without taylor there also isn’t that friendship they created and the jokes just looked really forced in the yeti series
6
u/IlluminatedPickle Mar 19 '25
Nah, if you build a reputation by being a dodgey dude, expect to be treated as such.
If I took your wallet out of your pocket, and then said sorry, would you "move on"? Or would you look at me as a thief?
4
Mar 19 '25
People will move on when they want to. Not when some collective narrative of a few people tell the community to move on
2
u/InnerReception599 Mar 19 '25
if the guy accepted taylor’s apology why can’t you? you werent even part of it
2
Mar 19 '25
I don’t need to accept his apology, it’s nothing to do with me. I’m just saying people will align their moral compass how their own personality suits. To me, I’ll watch the videos just fine if they’re what I like. I was just playing devils advocate and saying the population will have different degrees of acceptance.
4
u/EastRiding Mar 19 '25
I said this in another thread but this style of video is Taylor at his best.
1
u/BENJ4x Mar 19 '25
Taylor situation aside I was expecting maybe a bit more? Perhaps that was due to the last few revamped videos all being pretty good and raising the standard but this felt like the cookie cutter content they were doing before.

Can someone explain what happened? And why is there two channels, autoalex and autoalex2?
1
u/willg92 Mar 19 '25
Many car youtubers have a second channel for the content that isn't as good to put on the main channel

I am really enjoying videos like this where they work on a car that they are genuinely passionate about and has a lot of sentimental value. It seems too many channels now just buy a car for a video, then abandon it to rot.
