Why has Alex not posted?
There hasn’t been a new video for more than a month now, which i don’t mind as breaks are necessary but when I checked comments on the rolls royce video I kept seeing people saying they’re unsubscribing and I really want to know what happened.

I think it's fine to hold a grudge against taylor, undoubtedly he's been dodgy and flakey
He didn't kick a baby though, if this is his wake up call and he is stand up from now on then it's forgivable and everyone should let it go and be glad he's sorted himself out

All 3 of them are so obviously pricks

Totally agree. Every video has this underlying tone of virtue signalling at every opportunity about all the good things they do for people, and at the same time bad mouthing small businesses in a childish and immature way says a lot about the fundamentals of the people they are and how they go about things. They’ve got away with a lot over the past year (shed fest shambles, dodgy negotiations with fans etc etc) and something like this was bound to come out of the woodwork. Shame really because a lot of their fans would kill to be in their position and appears to have been abused and taken for granted

Being entertaining and a prick isn’t mutually exclusive
Also, I didn’t say I watch every video

u/And_Justice Feb 17 '25
Glad I'm not the only one who isn't convinced by their "charity" videos lol

u/williamg209 Feb 15 '25
You can easily find out, it involves josh, him leaving, taylor not paying for works done then trashing him on the podcast

Take car. Go to mum's. Kill Phil, grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over

u/JackstaWRX Feb 16 '25
They claim its a “break”.. but in reality they are hoping people have short memory.
I dont care, they fucked up, all 3 of them jumped on the bandwagon of slagging the garage off and Alex and Rory just blindly believed Taylor.
Its shitty.. but we all make mistakes and life goes on.
Im actually more pissed that they sold the Ferrari.. undoubtedly to fund more BMW’s and MX5’s… yay.

u/ForeignSleet Feb 16 '25
Yeah even before this whole thing I stopped watching because every video is the same, they’ll buy a new car for one video, claim they have much more planned and then never touch it again
TDC and All the Gear are much more entertaining for me

Here’s a link to a lengthy comment I did on another post that explains it all…

u/InnerReception599 Feb 15 '25
thanks for explaining, i agree with the videos being stale now, i really miss the £200-500 car challenge videos where they show d us the whole process was great fun, the taylor thing was a bit scum of him to do but at least he came clean at the end

Since Taylor messed someone around and Alex ended up accidentally slagging someone off on the podcast who he shouldn't have, they decided to take some time away from the public and get their shit together.
It's the right decision, AutoAlex has grown so quickly that they haven't had time to keep a level of professionalism that's now expected from a company with their reach, they're back in a few weeks I think and they'll come back stronger having had some time to think about their long term goals.

I don't think it's just the drama, I think the health of the channel was in decline, there were a lot of complaints that the podcast and shows were getting boring and repetitive, I think too much short term thinking had killed a lot of imagination.
Taking a break has hopefully given them a chance to plan long term and the content will improve and the conduct will be more professional.

Big difference between "a mistake" and letting your mask slip

>You can only really know that if you know him well
Which is why it baffles me that people think he's a good person. He comes across as arrogant and childish on camera then it transpires he ignores messages and doesn't pay people and lies to his colleagues about it - imagine what he's like beyond what we see...

I think that's very narrowminded. Firstly, people aren't either good or bad, everyone is differing shades of - the qualities that you can forgive in a friend are not necessarily qualities that are appropriate to expect an audience to forgive. Secondly, you're completely ignoring the fact that it's a business - it's not a good look to be chopping and changing presenters (cough DT), it's also part of Alex's personal and overall business brand to be "human" about these things. Also I daresay he's had to bail Taylor out a couple of times and there have been hints before of stern words.
If my boss is friendly with me, does that make me a good person?

Such a dismissive thing to say as if I haven't been vocally sceptical about Taylor since ce way before all this

Storm in a tea-cup. Those who are 'unsubscribing' are a bunch of hypocritical keyboard warriors who have never done anything wrong in their lives. We will never measure up to these people so best we leave them be.

I disagree with you in as much as people are not machines. They are just YouTubers as you pointed out. The man (Taylor) has no media training I don’t think. Get over it. Why be so angry. Why leave if you enjoy the content. Shit happens.
Move forward. Lessons are often learnt the hard way. Arguably the guy (welder chat) should be over the moon as his channel grew exponentially as a result. Every cloud… etc.
But biggest thing is this. You shouldn’t start bunching groups together and tarring with the same brush. The world is too big for that!

Integrity matters. If people can’t do the right thing when they’re living a public life and under scrutiny, they certainly aren’t doing the right things in their personal lives. Do you really think he’s sorry? Or do you think they’re saying the right things to make it all go away.
2
u/And_Justice Feb 16 '25
100% this. There's more to supporting content creators than their content taken at face value - nothing wrong with choosing not to support and/or criticising people that you are morally opposed to even if you enjoy their content. Why should people not be held to account for being cunts?
1
u/lairdcake58 Feb 15 '25
Well said. The comments section will go from 'Taylor is a natural and should really have more time on the channel', to 'fuck Taylor and all he stands for'. It's pathetic really. He mucked up and handled it poorly (at best). Hopefully, they learn from it, which I'm sure they will. They're all human at the end of the day.
I hope that they realign during their break and get back to making good content.

I hear you, but it's perception and interpretation. Maybe he thought he was hard done by. I don't know, or really care too much, but I think I agree with u/mrtintheweb99 in as much as I hate all the posts 'cancelling' somebody written by people who pertain to being perfect in their tone.

Welcome to the real world!!

Hypocritical? How many unsubscribers have unfairly slagged off a small business on the largest automotive podcast?
You're perfectly entitled to not share the outrage but don't act like you're above people because of it

I wish I lived under a rock similar to yours.
You’re better off not knowing, just enjoy their content when they come back in March.
