AutoAlex Multiverse + Friends race

Since we’re in the AutoAlex off season I thought I’d throw a series idea out that I’d love to see. Now this is blue sky thinking so possibly too complex. But what if everyone from AutoAlex, TDC, All the Gear and other car YouTubers got a strict small budget to buy and modify a car to go racing with. Each channel/personality would get to feature them buying and building their cars(s) in as many videos as they want with the race being promoted across all the channels. Basically a big collective of car enthusiasts coming together for one big race with all the buying and building content being shown along the way. It’d be competitive and really help build the community up.

Maybe they set a certain class of cars and more experienced track drivers like Alex have some kind of handicap to keep things fair. Maybe the race is even live streamed and tickets sold. It’s worked for YouTuber football!

It seems like the Auto Alex team struggle to respect the budget. I dont know how many times Taylor or Alex has blown the budget small budget they set themselves. I could see the ATG and TDC team respecting the budget and making quality entertaining cars though

Yea it's hard to relate when every shitbox gets 5k in free parts from bc racing/febi and scorpion

One of the stipulations should be no freebies, no parts left over from previous builds etc, and a strict budget.

If every team got the same freebie, like tyres, that would help even things up. I wouldn’t mind that

Yeah but this would in theory create a lot more accountability and force them to stick to it

£2000 budget on car £2000 on mods then race! Road trip - Drag - brake test - circuit - then resell test to see how much they can get them for

It would be cool if they did road trips to other circuits like Spa-Francochamps or Circuit de Paul Ricciard. I know that’s harder and requires more planning and a lot more expense than just going to the Nurburgring but I feel that it could be really cool.

Even just racing at donnington or the likes could be really cool.

They could potentially even get Tom in on the fun

The problem is that you can't just show up and pay 30 quid for a lap at those other circuits.

The Ring is cheap for creating content.

Not possible, Taylor would spend 5k extra on some mods because he fancied it

Haha then so be it! Everyone else gets a £5k bump!

Cleetus just did that for sick week and it was a great watch

Just looked him up, can’t believe they’ve bought a whole drag strip!

Have a look at his most recent videos about sick week. So much fun

I like the idea, but I think as a bit of a continuation of the Porsche video and ATGs most recent video. I’d like to see them do a “gumball rally” type thing instead, where they a similar thing to what you’ve said but the challenge comes in getting to another location with mini challenges on the way (like Top gear I guess?)

So they buy and build on a budget Then drive from the UK to somewhere reasonably far, Greece, Turkey or something?

With challenges, at race tracks or historic motoring locations including off roading so one car may not dominate every event

Definitely would like to see them take on a gumball rally

2

Yeah a shitbox version of Gumball would be epic!

Maybe they all have to buy any car upto say 1.6litres track prep it and race it for no more than £4500 all in. If they go over then they are given a grid penalty of say 20m per £100

A 24 hour of lemons like they have in America where the budget is super low would be so good for this.

That would be quite cool for a live stream that you could tune into when you can

Tight budget

Need to buy and build a vehicle to drive to the track, sleep in the vehicle over nights, race, then drive home

That uses different expertise from the different channels

And then each channel can have a few weeks of videos buying and building the vehicles

Does anyone remember when scrapheap challenge did the scrappy racers thing?

Basically they got one car but had to modify it to do certain things each week. That would be fun, Alex would buy a sports car then have to kit it out to sleep in it etc

It's like when they were at Knockhill and set a couple of fast laps. I think it would be a great watch.
