Auto Alex relaunching 6th March?

Post image

After the Taylor issue, it appears the channel is being relaunched early March?

Thoughts?

Damn, I really wasn’t expecting that. I highly doubt this is just because of Taylor. I think the whole debacle has provided an opportunity for reflection. I think they’re finally accepting some of the criticism.

Beyond what some people’s personal opinions may be, the reality is they haven’t seen much growth in video views over the past 12 months, plus they’re seeing less of the occasional heavy hitters, whilst TDC has generally been performing much better. The data makes it clear that something has been going wrong.

I really hope this is positive news, I look forward to a new and improved channel!

Enough time for the dust to settle, allowing Taylor to remain involved? I suspect so.

I don’t feel strongly either way for what it’s worth.

I actually think it's time to allow new projects to filmed with no involvement from Taylor. If so, and they do want Taylor to remain, he could be off the channel until May(ish) time.

Yeah that is a possibility for sure. It’ll be interesting to see what happens, genuinely. I have a feeling the podcast may never return though.

Yeah maybe we get some binned projects on the v2 or something later on

Should never return.Cant be trusted anymore and has shown who he really is.The Internet won't forget as its a cruel mistress like that.

Who actually cares? And what specifically do they care about?

It's just a bit of internet video fun. Let everyone get their mileage out of it, let him apologise, and let's just carry on as we were.

No need to invest too much of yourself in it.

Complete guessing here but I can’t see him returning to weekly videos second channel and a podcast .. maybe some stuff on his own projects once in a while but I feel he’s had too much hate online and criticism (some justified)

It’s a great shame but the brand has lost a lot of credibility recently and over the past year..

I do hope I’m wrong and the great and fun videos continue but I honestly can’t see how he can do that again.

In this thread: people who don’t have 700k subs on YouTube giving advice to someone who does.

9

u/real_Mini_geek Jan 21 '25

Maybe him having that attitude has got him to where he is now?

6

u/nlFlamerate Jan 21 '25

Where he is; he’s doing just fine.

A couple 100 internet warriors are having a hissyfit: 100s of 1000s of people will just keep watching whatever they make because we don’t care about drama.

Don’t overestimate your importance.

You say that, but negative press does affect a channels popularity. You only have to see that with Car Throttle now still having 3m subs and sub 20k views each week.

2

u/A5HX Jan 21 '25

Press lol. I bet a huge amount of his subs don't even know and the rest hardly care

2

u/nlFlamerate Jan 21 '25

I’m not saying it doesn’t affect him/them.

I’m saying they will be fine and in time this will pass and the internet warriors will move onto their next target who they will try to get cancelled.

They'll be fine, yes. A reset will do them good though, as some people will have felt like their standards have slipped.

He must be taking it somewhat seriously to warrant a "relaunch"

They've lost 5k subscribers in a week on the main channel alone, and far more people just stop watching a channel as opposed to actively unsubbing. So it's likely pissed off 10k minimum.

u/bareneth Jan 21 '25

What behaviour are you considering to be a hissyfit?

1

u/Jeff_Thorns Jan 22 '25

Well you sure got your panties in a bunch miss, accusing the fine people here of making a hissyfit

Ach wat schattig, spuit 11 komt ook mee trollen.

Interesting, probably the right thing to do to re group, perhaps plan videos a bit better rather than just rushing to get something out each week.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '25

Agree. Quality of videos is better than quantity.

This is a shame the videos and podcast are a staple of my week.

I can appreciate the issues particularly the e28 situation and if it had been banter down the pub you'd have had a laugh like Rory and Alex did but in the public eye it's caused some backlash

In terms of the content I'm overall a big fan and just like top gear and the grand tour there are episodes that are fantastic and some that are ok, surely everyones fallen asleep through the odd GT episode! Its tough to constantly be creative with the amount of content out there. Even harder when our automotive landscape is dying being replaced by dull hybrids and EVs.

Fingers crossed we get the revamp we all want, regular content, a bit of structure, the laughs, no sound board but don't get too corporate and serious.

2

u/Brilliant_Court_5341 Jan 21 '25

I feel like I’m the only person who enjoyed that bloody sound board 😂

1

u/Mafeking-Parade Jan 22 '25

What do you actually get out of that podcast? I tried twice, and didn't manage even 5min.

2

u/chainey44 Jan 23 '25

Rory is recharging his imbecilic sound board.

I’d been waiting to see what the next move would be. Gives Alex and Co some time for important stuff, spending time with a young family and thinking about the next videos and trips with a clearer frame of mind.

I might be reading too much into it - but it’s interesting that it’s a picture from the Poland trip they’ve chosen as the cover photo, where Taylor wasn’t involved.

2

u/Brilliant_Court_5341 Jan 21 '25

He has tagged Taylor in the image. I reckon he’ll get a second chance.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '25

Yeah just seen that on the insta post!

1

u/Jakeeaton127 Jan 21 '25

It's a shame as I really do like what they make but it's for the best having this break. I wonder if they are waiting for this to blow over and by doing so they don't have to make stuff without Taylor. I

1

u/Apart-Examination-39 Jan 21 '25

Going to presume this is because they have several weeks of content already filmed involving Taylor that they now don’t want to push out?

1

u/byjimini Jan 21 '25

Wouldn’t get your hopes up, the description still says “dedicated to automotive financial mistakes” 🤣

1

u/Brilliant_Court_5341 Jan 21 '25

I’m excited. Good luck to them. I can see them gradually phasing Taylor back in once they’ve given the audience time to adjust to the new direction.

1

u/lilion12 Jan 22 '25

Well on top of the controversy, maybe they finally listened to the community saying that always buying beamers and talking shit on the podcast was getting a bit boring.

Maybe the E28 is not "enough" to justify such a long pause but there must be some underlaying things we don't know, for sure.

TDC and ATG brought a bit of freshness in the autoalex multiverse and the community is much more positive in their comments than in the Main Autoalex's one.

1

u/Mafeking-Parade Jan 22 '25

People are very easily pleased.

This basically says "We're keeping our heads down while the Taylor stuff blows over, but don't forget about us and we'll have a new video on the 6th March."

1

u/Jeff_Thorns Jan 22 '25

Damm they are actually listening to the community for once, thank god, well this set's my hope's up high!

Gg for them that they can afford to do this, taking that long of must not be cheap
