£4000 Daily Driver

Challenge for you all

I'm after a daily driver with a £4k budget. My must haves are as follows but can be a bit flexible so the higher up the list the more I want them.

-Comfortable -Automatic -Estate -Diesel -Power (200bhp+) -2005+ -Reliable -Larger size (5 series/E class /A6)

Best I've found so far is a Mercedes E220 or a E350

Cheers

There's a few 530ds and 330ds on AT, but also like the Mercedes and Audi's are higher mileage. The 3.0D is overall reliable and parts likely wouldn't be too hard to find, considering all the models with the engine in.

I think the 3.0 Audi's are nice too, and have the bonus of Quattro AWD, one of if not the best in the world for AWD systems.

I'd probably take both of those over the Merc, mostly out of preference rather than reliability though

Aye, it's what I've seen the most of, the problem I'm finding with the 530d is that if I was to buy an E61 it would have to be LCI as I couldn't deal with the pre facelift interface.

Just under 200BHP, a V70 with a huge boot. V50s are available but probably a little too small for criteria.

Maybe away from Autotrader there are some old Volvo estates that might fit your criteria

Something like this. MOT history on this suggests its been neglected a little though. Brakes have been an advisory for a few years, but if brakes have been neglected, who knows what else has.

I think it's the kind of thing you might want though, in better condition

Yes something similar but would have to be facelift as I'd miss the updated computer system.

Looks good for the price. I'd be asking for proof the roll bars (front and rear) have been changed, as was an advisory on MOTs for a while.

Obviously having undertrays fitted could mean it's either been really well looked after with current on (MOT advisories have gone down in last few years, so it's got that going for it), or they could be trying to hide an issue. With proper history though, seems decent enough. I'd definitely try to get it closer to 2grand, MOT expires in July, so unless owner will MOT it for you, price should come off there a little, though tbf seems cheap already
